Couldn’t find the Guide in my size, and hoping the Libertines fit as I had to size down. I’ll report back with a review. They were CHEAP! $179 from BCThese are supposed to be a little on the medium flex side of things so it might be weird coming from Drivers but I’m not as aggressive as I used to…[Read more] shredgnar replied to the topic What's like a Burton Driver, but better? in the forum Boots 3 years, 8 months agoI was given some Talons a few years ago and I broke the BOA on the 2nd day. They were also too small for me so I never really got a good feel for them. Maybe I’ll revisit. Having low volume feet always makes me have to over tighten all of my boots, which means the BOA is usually overstressed. I’m OK with a BOA for the liner, but for the shell…[Read more] shredgnar started the topic What's like a Burton Driver, but better? in the forum Boots 3 years, 8 months agoI’ve been rocking Drivers for as long as I can remember. I have large (13 but squeeze into 11.5), low volume feet, I like the low volume shell size of the drivers, and especially like the stiffness.I hate their crappy lacing system that won’t stay tight and liners that pack out fast. I generally like the fit, at least for the first season,…[Read more] shredgnar replied to the topic Venture Snowboards set for revival in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 6 years, 3 months agoStoked these guys are making a comeback. Klem makes great boards. I think that it is awesome that they are so uncompromising. They make solid boards for riding tough terrain. They are big burly boards made for riding Silverton and terrain like it, not flimsy park boards that last half a season (like Mervin). They aren’t for everyone, no board…[Read more] shredgnar replied to the topic Durable Approach Poles? in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 6 years, 6 months agoBeen using Expeditions for 10+ years with absolutely no problems. Don’t store them compacted, and allow them to dry when not in use and they shouldn’t freeze. Maybe take them apart for storage.Sounds like you are hard on poles, so maybe compactors are unable to withstand the amount of abuse you are putting them through. Beef up to…[Read more] shredgnar replied to the topic snowboard backpack question in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 6 years, 7 months agoYou sound just like me 20 years ago when I was first learning how to get around in the snow. Let me save you some time, money, effort, and pain.Step 1) Get rid of snowshoes and get a split Step 2) Invest in a good 40L pack with avy gear pocket, back access, and ski/board carry. I like the BD Anarchist. Step 3) Build a pulk sled for the beer…[Read more] shredgnar replied to the topic Splitboard Touring Just Got More Powerful With The Flex-Lock in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 6 years, 7 months agoWe need more threads like this to drive traffic to this site before it dies.Hardbooters ride like robots!!! Definitely agree that it was one of the better climbing films that I’ve seen in a while. I was actually most impressed with Jimmy Chin. That guy is a legend in the making. shredgnar replied to the topic Venture Online Store in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 6 years, 8 months agoLook like they are canceling orders for this season. Bummed. Great company and great people, hope they can make a comeback. From their FB page:“Venture Supporters,Venture Snowboards has encountered some challenging terrain in recent months. The pop up adds that come up if your mouse hovers over them and don’t go away, also irritating. The loss of a “new posts” function made the forum more difficult to browse. It’s the little things that add up. The easier…[Read more] shredgnar replied to the topic Loosing all your hard work in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 7 years, 1 month agoIt’s a culmination of many things that has caused site traffic to drop. I could list them, but we all know what they are. I used to go through phases of checking in every day, to every week. Lately, I feel like this place isn’t even on my list unless I’m REALLY bored. It’s a shame, and I’d hate to see what was once a awesome resource for our…[Read more] shredgnar replied to the topic FS: Jones Snowpulse RAS 30L AIRBAG sz:L in the forum Splitboard Swap 7 years, 1 month agoSorry, not interested in splitting up the system.PM me with questions or offers, I don’t check in here much anymore.BUMP! shredgnar replied to the topic The 2015/2016 Gear Thread in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 7 years, 3 months agoAnd the newest Zelix is based on the K Jones model from their shape shack last year if I’m not mistaken. shredgnar replied to the topic FS: Jones Snowpulse RAS 30L AIRBAG sz:L in the forum Splitboard Swap 7 years, 3 months agoThis is the original one, not “Higher”. From what I can tell, they are pretty similar, but this one is made with a spectra fabric, don’t know about the Higher one. shredgnar started the topic FS: Jones Snowpulse RAS 30L AIRBAG sz:L in the forum Splitboard Swap 7 years, 3 months agoSelling my Jones 30L with Snowpulse RAS airbag with canister. Use 1/2 a season and still in great shape. I’m 6’2″ and the pack fits like a glove. Never fired the bag, but the cylinder was filled last winter.I’m in CO and would like to avoid shipping, so I don’t have to fire the cylinder. But if I need to ship it, I’ll fire it and then ship.…[Read more] shredgnar replied to the topic The 2015/2016 Gear Thread in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 7 years, 3 months agoHave you tried them? They actually allow quite a bit of ankle articulation I thought. I’d break that BOA in a few days though, not a fan of anything with a BOA on it. Every time I’ve tried, SNAP! shredgnar replied to the topic The 2015/2016 Gear Thread in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 7 years, 3 months agoI like that Spark listened and fixed their forward lean adjustment. It looks pretty slick in person, very functional, but only time will tell how durable it is. Hopefully it can take a beating. shredgnar replied to the topic The 2015/2016 Gear Thread in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 7 years, 3 months agoNope, Euphoria gets regular sidecut this year. Should be interesting as you’ll actually be able to rideit on hardpack.Venture also came out with a carbon Zelix split. Light and snappy! Those Jones boots are pretty cool, walk mode is pretty nice.Karakoram’s are looking really nice with their new interface. We’ll see how they work out. They look pretty sick so far.As far as skin storage inside the jacket. All you really need is a string or small bar to hang them over inside the jacket. Don’t need a huge pocket really do ya?
