Not sure about chomps mechanically but voile crampons lock down and that’s what you need, I thought Chomps had this option. I’ve never found them useful in anything but fixed position for the same reasons you mention.Good Luck.Andy shasta replied to the topic Making the dynafit switch – need advice on where to start in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 8 years, 6 months agoMountain plates have worked for me for over 5 years: never bent, broke, ripped, chipped or tore one. The pin holes are egged out on mine from wear but thats it. I usually get 60 b/c days each season in all conditions. Good starter setup you can always upgrade later: spend the $ on boots if you are limited. shasta replied to the topic Avalanche kills five snowboarders at Loveland Pass, CO in the forum Avy Discussion Forum 9 years agoTragic and sad indeed.Thought the wildsnow blog was right on in terms of clinically discussing the issue and potential mistakes that led to the tragedy. The timing was right on as this is iron that will not shape unless its hot.My perspective on this is affected by the fact I was taken out in a slide this winter locally and luckily did not…[Read more] shasta replied to the topic Do you switch your board halves when hiking? in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 9 years, 3 months agoSwitching halves came about from the instructions that came with the original Burton splits (a la Craig Kelly) that had the ying/yang hooks on each board half that would clack and catch if you didn’t switch halves for skinning. I know cause I had the problem, thought WTF, and decided to read the manual.I still switch halves and see no reason to…[Read more] shasta replied to the topic Hard Boot Doubters… Watch this vid in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 9 years, 4 months agoUtah really said this:“Unfortunately the people who have got on here and tried to tell others how to act have only come off sounding like self- righteous guys on theirWhat soft booters or anyone else should notice about Joey’s shredding is how he interprets the mountain, slashes that feature, pops that one. Yes I am sick. shasta replied to the topic K2 introduces the new "Kwicker" splitboard system – in the forum Splitboards 9 years, 5 months agoI’m just scarred from the day I described: it started out with the approach skis that didn’t work very well and went worse from there as I described.Glad to see new systems and competition that only will drive better products. shasta replied to the topic K2 introduces the new "Kwicker" splitboard system – in the forum Splitboards 9 years, 5 months agoRode with a guy with clickers ONCE. We had to boot up a steep section. At the top he couldn’t “click in” because the pocket on boot bottom was packed with ice. We worked on it for awhile (in blizzard conditions)(had to take gloves off, frozen fingers) and all seemed good so off I went. Waited for an hour (I seriously thought he died in a…[Read more] shasta replied to the topic Fitwell Backcountry in the forum Boots 9 years, 10 months agoBG shame on you. A toll for the road or parking fees at Bunny Flat might fund it. Bitch is you also need a rotary blower$$ because a plow cant deal with the snow amounts and wind drifts up there. Some dedicated system to clear Everitt would be great as many times in winter after a big dump it takes days or weeks to open…[Read more] shasta replied to the topic Me, MIA, and Eastside Splitfest… in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 9 years, 11 months agoI put a summer wax coat and hung up my board for the year.
