osubg1 replied to the topic Women's Overnight Touring Packs in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 2 years, 7 months ago

I would never be able to do a hut trip with a 40L bag – no room for good food and beer! That being said, I’d check out mystery ranch packs. https://www.mysteryranch.com/Packs/Outdoor/Womens-Outdoor-Packs

They have accessories that can help attach a board, etc. Sometimes you can just split your board and carry it like you would a pair of skis.…[Read more]

osubg1 replied to the topic San Juan Citizens Alliance appeals Silverton heli swap in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 3 years, 8 months ago

This is kind of ridiculous. I was fortunate enough to do a full day heli skiing tour with Silverton Mountain guides last year. This company is class act organization. Silverton mountain is as close to backcountry as you can get. They bring business to Silverton during an otherwise bleak winter season. In AK, anyone we ran into was really cool…[Read more]

osubg1 replied to the topic Eyewear – Googles, sunglasses or both? in the forum The Gear Room 4 years, 5 months ago

I always bring both. I brought sunglasses only on a shorter tour. I still managed to cartwheel and almost lose them, filled them up with snow, etc. I like touring with sunglasses and then riding with my helmet and goggles. I just store the goggles in the bag, either in my helmet inside my bag or just in the lid of my backpack. They don’t…[Read more]

osubg1 replied to the topic Anyone using the Zip Strips from Spark yet? in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 5 years, 2 months ago

I agree – would I really stop and put them on or just continue trudging along. I have a hut trip coming up with a couple longer rolling sections that they could be used for. I’m going with 5 other skiers, I’m the only one on a split. I thought it might give me an edge. I also have the strappy straps too – but I rarely even bring them. I might…[Read more]

I’m looking at getting a set for an upcoming trip. I don’t see any reviews or any similar setup on skis. What is everyone thinking?

Thanks for the quick response from Will.

osubg1 replied to the topic Replacing bushings on Spark Blazes. Help!! in the forum Bindings 9 years, 1 month ago

I have sent an email to spark – but I won’t be able to get anything in the mail, my trip is tomorrow.

I borrowed a split – it’s awesome, spark bindings, venture storm.

The issue is the binding is missing 3 of the bushings and the 4th is really worn, looks plastic. I got the board today and I leave tomorrow for a 4 day hut trip.

    Do you think…[Read more]

Now it’s just a matter of which one and how much $$ to spend. Close and cheap, but less terrain (Eldora) or farther, more expensive, with a lot more terrain (A-Basin/Keystone). Just can’t wait to do anything on the snow at this point though.

I think you have the most options with the 5 mountain (Colorado pass?) – Vail,…[Read more]

I always carry a couple voile orange straps. They have come in handy many times. Holding an iced over skin on, securing a snowboard (or friend’s skis) to a pack tighter, etc…

Have you tried to see if the Restraint highbacks from your Iggy2s fit the Karakorams? Stick with the cube!

Based on weighing them (literally) and by the cost… I’m returning my karakorams and going with my old ignitions. The straps seem a little nicer and I have no problems with the highback. Plus I own them which is the…[Read more]

I fold my skins like this –> http://www.mountain-guiding.com/newsletters/tech-2001-05/

So, instead of folding from the middle, create two halves. Check out the pic –>

I bought a pair of split30’s last year and also had issues with the minimum lean angles they allowed. I tried cutting down the highbacks and riding without, but ended up putting some union hb’s on that work much better for me, and fit the karakoram mounting holes (although the bindings would be pretty easy to drill if…

So I’ve been riding Ride bindings on my solid board for years. The bindings have what Ride calls Wedgies. Wedgies add an angle to the base of your binding tilting your foot towards the center of the board. Personally I love it, so I have been trying to figure out a way to implement canter into the Voile pucks. Anyone ever try this…

The efficiency of the other riders was obvious. Second, I see riders fall all the time when they really shouldn’t, mainly because something catches them off guard (on the uphill) and…[Read more]

The bindings are M/L. I still have the box and the base plates if you wanted to use the bindings on a normal board.

Medium would be my guess – I do have the box and the base plates for conversion for a regular board. I’ll check the box when I get home tonight and let you know the size. Again, I’m going to say Medium would be my guess. I would have ordered whatever size was for a size 9 boot.
