The slide could use alot more coverage, the last time we rode it there were no exposed ice shelfs except for the first headwall. All were rollers begging to be aired out, locals refer to that slide as the playground.

  • Cali is new to me, I don’t know what to expect really. I can live anywhere and have lived on both coasts in the States. When I think of mountain towns, I think of Canmore, AB or North Conway NH.

I will check out those guide books, thanks!

Any brew pubs to look out for?

  • Check your PMs I am interested.

This time of year I like a 3 day cycle followed by a rest day or two Thursdays I do a hard run 10-16k or an attempt at running the Grouse grind, Fridays I climb or boulder all day, and I top if off with a long hike or bike ride. The rest of the week I am active doing easy trips with the woman which for me end up like active recovery days.

I prefer to work out in blocks of three days and rest for two. I don’t follow any specific plans, just to get out alot and keep things interesting. I find that 2 week breaks of doing…[Read more]

  • This past season I used softshell pants and shell on all my backcountry trips as well as for ice climbing. I will only go back to hardshells for full on downpours, but chances are I will not be riding or climbing in weather such as that. My softshell jacket is more of a hybrid with a goretex hood and shoulders. The last ice climb of the year I…[Read more]

  • I don’t swing tools directly overhead, I just don’t like the postion of my board while I swing. It may be how my pack carries the board but it seems my board ends up in the wrong places.
