Sounds like someone should have went to engineering school. $35K split between 2 guys, um yeah, they’re getting rich. Luckily they don’t live in CA or their electric bill would be that much a year.

Nice, good thinking bud. I like it.

I usually get something cheaper like REI brand, mostly because my last couple sets I’ve poked my crampons thru and it upsets me to ruin my expensive gear because my legs are short. lol.
I’ve been pretty happy w/ the REI too btw.

When are you planning this?
How many miles do you guys want to try for a day?
Mineral King would be a pretty sweet option also for a 2 day…maybe shave a little time off the drive too?

hey,
I haven’t had many issues with snow sticking yet, on one occosion I recall being a bit miffed. I do feel they are more of a higher maintenence set up though. I do like the fit and feel they give the board over a viole set up. I treat them more like a firearm though and they get an effient tear down cleaning/bolt torque/lock tite go over.…[Read more]

If you have a car rental, Death Valley is pretty kick ass! I am heading that way end of March for some on/off road touring on my motorcycle  . You could spend 4 days alone in DV and not see all the goods. Drive down to Big Pine and head over Bristlecone Pine forrest into DV. Highly recommend.
That will also put you near some good…[Read more]

Not sure if you’d be into it but most of us on here boondock camp/car/tent it.
There are a few cheap hotels in both spots for a hot shower too. Shouldn’t be a problem getting a room in either little town. Lots of nice hot springs and awesome camping.mtnrider replied to the topic Chic Chocs – Check Your Pins 2.3 in the forum Trip Reports 10 years, 5 months ago

Wave Rave usually has most of the higher end gear on the shelves. I’m sure betweeen there and another store in Mammoth they would have most of the ’13 gear.
Although, please don’t let me rule you out of driving US to Tahoe buddy!

If you’re renting, be sure to get insurance. I’d be real careful w/ any of those choices off road. They will be fine on dirt groomed roads and not much more. Also make sure they give you chains, most likely they’ll come w/ some street tires which will just spin on anything frozen or if you happen to get stuck in a mudhole. I’d pick the…[Read more]
