Put this one together for a fella last year. He was stoked with the ride. It didn’t lose much from being solid – worth cutting.

The picture is of the ’12 – 13 whippet, same as BD has on sale. The ’12-13 expeditions also have the updated ‘flicklock pro’ system – you must have picked up the ’11-12 expeditions.

ha – thanks scooby. He is definitely in his element out there. I can’t imagine a better place for a dog than in the mountains… that goes for both us dogs 😉

…not sure if it was covered, but I noticed the 12/13 flicklocks have a rivet running into the pole and a section of pole cut out to expand/contract where the flicklock is installed, so if you’re modding to a 3 piece, they don’t look as easy to pull off and throw on to the cut top section as the old style flicklock. Has anyone pulled one off?

I’ve had the opportunity over the last while to watch bits and pieces of this production come together. Having zero personal experience with filming/editing/producing, I am amazed at the time, dedication, vision and I guess more than anything, passion, that it takes to have a project like this be as we see it now. I have a few of the 4-hole puck sticker templates laying around. Send over your address and I’ll get some out to you.

The colors have changed, but the plastic strikes me as the same stuff. The upgrades included in the new kit are dual climbing blocks/wires (instead of the single) and a new, more ‘ergonomic’, alignment guide for the pucks.

Not entirely sure if I’m clear about what’s going on. If you are talking about rotating your bindings on the slider plates, so the binding is not parallel with the plate, touring would be a real challenge. Or you would have to get out the screwdriver and re-affix your angles at each transition….

What do you think about gouging all that material directly under a pretty serious flex point? Maybe more for ground-up construction?

I’m guessing you added some metal channel/UHMW/reinforcement to keep the tnuts from pulling out? Have you yarded on them little homies yet?

Been using these for a good part of the ‘season’ now. Definitely agree with fitit – quickdraw, blam, extended. Most of you older gentlemen probably don’t see much of that anymore 😉 Compacting them is about a wash timewise with other 3 piece poles I’ve seen and used. But when they’re collapsed – very packable.
