Yes, you need the spring. Peanuts compared to the total costs of your dream setup. These Link Levers are the next step of the revolution and worth every cent.

Thank you for your input, Iu Salillas! Shitty snow rides shitty anyway, even with softboots 😉
Phantom’s waiting list you are talking about is closed. The first mini series is already sold out. Now they are collecting input/thoughts from the people riding with the Link levers and they will bring em out for regular purchase next season (around…[Read more]

Also a big thanks from me for the great write up! I had my first tour with the Link levers on my modded Backlands (alpine) two days ago and I am really impressed how good they work. Installation and forward lean adjustment is very easy and the forward lean is fine tunable. The upper buckle adds a lot of sidehold while skinning (I did not use it…[Read more]

you’re welcome, Trygve =) my setup is less than 3 kg/foot now (Milligram, Kohla skins, Phantoms, Backlands), lighter or as light as my skier-friends stuff. Def. no need to switch 😉
have fun and good days in the mountains with the Amplid!
mgco3 replied to the topic Amplid Milligram in the forum Splitboards 4 years, 2 months ago
It is definitely the best choice for your purpose, go for 163. I am 180cm and 74kg and the 163 rides and skins great.
It is the lightest factory split available as I am aware.
It would be sad to quit snowboarding for this reason. Go with Phantoms and some Dynafits/Backlands/… and you will have a very light setup, comparable to many…[Read more]

Very interesting point with the temperature! I had a similar effect with my Phantoms past week. Nothing I worried about, but a strange effect (and we had like -5°C this day).

@velca
good point, but I have no direct comparison with the TLT6. Compared with the unmodded version, the lateral support is a bit smaller but I imagine it improves quite a lot if I would reattach the upper buckle and close it at least for ascending. But so far, the modded Backlands are still stiff enough for me to do challenging traverses.mgco3 replied to the topic Atomic backlands… Thoughts on mods in the forum Boots 4 years, 4 months ago
Hello like-minded,
I wrote a summary of my backland mods, which ride really good after investing some work:

That are great news buell! (I did not read the comments carefully enough) but I directly asked to be on the wait list. I am really stoked on this🙌

I have not (yet?) tried that, but it is a good idea. If you give it a try, please keep me updated =)
Btw: I had the chance to try my new mod for two days now and it rides well. I am getting stoked on these bootes again

Hey Stephen,
I was still riding these boots around 30 days last season. I was quite happy with them (maybe a bit too less shock absorbing, but only noticable in hard snow) but they got kind of too hot and the shell changed a bit its shape while drying them in the camper at the heater… def my fault as the shell is punchable, but from now on…[Read more]

Phantom 14/15 Adapter Plates + 3 screws for mounting it on the Voile pattern: 2x 29g
No problem for me.Do you have any idea of the weight of a single insert?
Btw: really cool thread, the lighter everything is (while being durable) the more energy I have left for the way down, enabling longer tours = longer fun. pretty simple
Edit: a list of…[Read more]

very interesting, thanks for sharing.
I did not have any problems with my mods so far (about 30 days this season, even with temps down to -15/-20°C and deep powder in Japan), but maybe forces are distributed another way (not so much torsion force).mgco3 replied to the topic Amplid Milligram in the forum Splitboards 5 years, 4 months ago
That is a very nice review of the Amplid Carbon boards. I rode a LabCarbon Split the past two seasons. I absolutely love this board while I see that the very few concerns I have about it seem to have been fixed. great stuff!

do you have any possibility to get the non-carbon version? the carbon version feels remarkable stiffer in terms of lateral flex, and even the plastic of the non-carbon version is more on the stiffer side..
mgco3 replied to the topic Atomic backlands… Thoughts on mods in the forum Boots 5 years, 6 months ago
All the information is basically displayed in the two pictures: no additional tongue, I removed the upper buckle and placed the velco above the ankle. It can be fixed by replacing the upper screw of the walk/ride mechanism by a longer screw. Additionally, I have cut away about 1 cm of the cuff at the heelside because it caused some pressure pain…[Read more]

I bought a pair of Backlands end of the past season and had four days on them so far. On the first day without mods, I realized I had to change something. I modded them in a similar way like my Scott Orbits. Now I am pretty happy riding with them so far:
mgco3 replied to the topic Petzl RAD rope in the forum The Gear Room 6 years, 1 month ago
hey @barrows, Petzl ropes are fabricated by Edelrid and Edelrid offers basically the same rope (see the specs) only in different colors as “Rap Line II”. The price is significantly lower and it should be available in 30 – 60 m. I use one since this winter, abseiling works fine with the petzl reverso 4(?), only one carabiner, and for glacier…[Read more]
