They look like backlands with a phantom sticker.
Happy to be corrected.

I don’t think it matters which size (159 or 162) you choose. After all, we are talking about 30mm, less than the width of this sentence on your screen or around a 2% size difference.
If I had to choose, I’d go with the longer board since you are 95kg.

I, too, can pipe up with my recent conversion to fruitboots, in particular phantoms paired with atomic backlands. And I would have to agree with your assessment Doug, amazing. Game changer.
I tried mine out riding inbounds for a day with the little lady just to see if there were any glitches and to see how the boots fit, hotspots etc. For me…[Read more]

Sorry I’ve tried to reply to this question about 5 times and for whatever reason my reply keeps getting deleted. I love talking splitboarding and seeing awesome trip reports, getting gear tips etc but the user friendliness of this form is, well… I’m not going to mince my words here. Fucking terrible. Absolute tripe. Shit. No other way to…[Read more]

I am soon to enter the netherworld that is “fruit booting”.
I have my backland carbons (only have the bog standard liners).
I have my phantoms (including touring toes that no longer need adapter plate).
They will be mated with my amplid milligram to produce the ultimate split boarding love child. The question is, do i need a US$200 spring to…[Read more]

Thanks for the awesome info re carbons vs ultimate….
Anyone else have any experience with the ultimate?
I am thinking of fruit booting shortly and going full high spec phantoms etc and I can get carbons in Australia but not ultimates, so wondering if it’s worth the hassle importing from the states, sizing hassles etc.

Anyone with any updates on these boots?
backcountry have the carbon lite boot on sale for $550 and I am seriously thinking of putting some “fruit in my boots”.

I bought a milligram a little under a year ago and have done a southern hemisphere winter (Australia 2017 – one of the best seasons in memory) and a 2 week trip to japan this Feb.
I don’t think I’m getting any fitter, just older, but I definitely noticed I am generally faster and less fatigued touring with this board than with my old jones split.…[Read more]

Tell karakoram how shit they are and that they snap on the 1st tour and to replace them with something sturdier (i.e. their normal toe straps). That’s what I did, because that’s what happened. Even the karakoram sponsored riders will tell you how weak they are.

I thought the same thing when I got mine, but no problems.
Method replied to the topic Overnight Packs, why no good options? in the forum The Gear Room 5 years, 7 months ago
I agree, there is a distinct lack of big splitboard friendly multiday packs.
Here’s what I’m looking at, but quite pricey.

I have Burton Driver X 9.5 with a medium. With size 11 I would go with a Large.
Now that I’ve used these for over a year I can confirm that the “air strap” toe strap is completely weak and snaps very easily. I would replace it before you use the binding, unless like me, you’d like it to snap in the middle of nowhere at an extremely inconvenient…[Read more]

For sure the SE side of Feathertop is Alaskan.
All these lines have been ridden. This section of Feathertop is called avalanche gully – for obvious reasons – gets pretty wind loaded! People die here every few years, although usually not in avalanches – “slide for life” is usually the main concern. To the frothers left of avalanche gully is…[Read more]
