Been nursing a funky foot injury and I’m finally healthy enough to ride. Heading up to Stowe area for the first time (finally) this weekend and would appreciate any local beta in the area.

I’ll probably do a day in a resort and hunt and peck the side country with a buddy but I was also intending to do 2 days of touring. I’d like to poke around…[Read more]

I live at 2000′ and everything above that seems to be holding up nicely. There is about 2-3′ of base. The untouched areas still are holding about 3″ of powder on top, it didn’t get warm (edit) enough to form the “death crust” at the 2000’+ elevations. Last weekend I skinned to the radio tower on Ricker peak and went off the backside…

And by the way, once you go to Sparks, you’ll toss the plates away and never look back! It has the be the best investment i made for snowboarding in a while!

Hey BigJay, did you find it a significantly lighter setup? Or were they just more responsive than the plates. I’m running Burton Mission bindings now and I am thinking of…[Read more]

nice setup. I like the way you guys think. 😀

I’d be pretty stoked for a future split gathering if that ever could get organized proper.

I’m riding Stowe tomorrow afternoon (I need to work in the am) hopefully…[Read more]

BigJay, what cut is this? Is the the logging in State Forest that was alluded to in a prev post? Or is this logging on private land (also mentioned) ?

As I remember, the track out was on top of or beside a (frozen) stream bed. Are the machines spilling oil in or around and/or disturbing the streambed itself? If so,…

As far as the cut is concerned… total carnage! You can’t ride to the road anymore… Feels like they’re building streets down there with all the trees piled up… Access trail is compromised as well… Machinery is tearing up the place… oil spills on the track also… Pretty discusting! I’ll have pics of the cut later on… How…

Again, if it snows, we’ll probably go touring… More like exploring while conditions are marginal but the snowpack is still high… Hopefully discover something new!

But please, don’t bring the splitboard… We’d love for it to dump over the next few days! :bananas:

I’ll leave it home, just for y’all. 😛

howdy guys, this is my condo weekend in stowe. part of me is thinking of leaving the splitboard home, with the expectation that the conditions in the bc and sidecountry are going to be totally hardpack/ice, or breakable crust. but i’ll bring it bc due to my luck, if i leave it home it will dump (maybe I should then 😉 ).

I have a Prior Khyber split which I really like. Prior to that I had a Burton split which I thought rode like a 2×8 plank (great west coast bowl board, felt like certain death in mansfield trees). the khyber is really twitchy at times, and you have to be “on it” but you can really turn it fast and it floats well. from what i hear the khyber is…[Read more]

    merry christmas everyone!

on Tue 23 Dec I got my first bc runs (since i broke a shoulder last Feb) of the season off spruce. although I was far from first… lots of tracks before me, powder was good, light and deep. the prevailing winds from the prev day blow all the pow out of the resort and dumped it into the trees.

sadly, we just had 2…[Read more]
