Is this thing on…? 🙂
Don’t think I’ve posted on this site for 4 or 5 years. Well, after a long backcountry hiatus, I’m trying to get the band back together for a little weekend assault somewhere near S Lake around May 10th.
I was up a couple weeks ago with the fam at a resort and there looks to be plenty of snow in the area. Would love…[Read more]

Great idea on the auto expire and I wouldn’t be surprised if that could be done. The problem is that it I don’t think it would know which sub-forum to move it to. So i think it will become the responsibility of the original poster to move their own threads if they choose to.
Would there be a way that a user could select the…[Read more]

Happy Birthday JC.
Hey , thanks PJ!
Haven’t checked the site in quite some time. Nice to stumble on some b-day wishes.
Been in mtb mode. Building a new DH rig today for a Whistler/Crankworks trip. I’m considering this the ultimate belated b-day trip/gift. 🙂

Paging any S Tahoe/Carson Pass Locals/Travelers –
I’m planning to get out to Carson Pass tomorrow with a couple first timers. Checking the weather info I can gather online it looks like things may not have frozen last night along with possible T-Storms and another potential no-freeze tonight. Can anyone confirm any of this? Would hate to make…[Read more]

Thanks Jbay. Both helpful and entertaining.

Anyone get out to Carson Pass this weekend? Still holding OK? Curious for any info before this storm moves in this week.

Jbay and Kalisplitfesters…
I’m afraid it’s a no-go for me this year. Had a blast last year but the weekend lands right on a big mountain bike event in Monterey – Sea Otter. Have some work obligations. BC Mex is most likely on the same plan, but I don’t want to officially speak for him. I’ll bug him to sound off and get his post count up to…[Read more]

Ricorides – You want to hit Lower Rock Creek. Not a ride from town, but this is the somewhat local must do, out of the park, ride. A couple resource links here:

Hit N* yesterday with a few friends (including BC Mex.) We were really hoping for that rare tacky day. The dust was nowhere near normal conditions but it wasn’t as magical as we thought it might be. Didn’t matter though, we had a blast and it was fun to get some time on the DH bike. I was also surprised how uncrowded it was. I thought it…[Read more]

A bit of a proud papa moment here to share some mtb stoke. We picked up one of those push bikes for my son at the Sea Otter. He’s been working on it for the last two months. Last weekend we hit a little 1/2 mile, completely flat, dirt trail that is on the way to a real ride. It was his first MTB mission. He’s been working on his manuals too…[Read more]

Could be old news but seems like it could replace the Goiter.

Cool. I figured trails and jumps like that would never happen in Marin County. Too much opposition to mountain bikers, DH’ers and jumpers.
Unfortunate, but true. I wouldn’t have XC’ers too far off that list either…
JC replied to the topic advice: dog boarding facility near shasta? in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 14 years ago
I’m 99% sure no dogs allowed once in the wilderness area. You can probably find the official word on the Shasta info/conditions site.
I’ll check with a buddy who used to live there and see if he has some boarding tips.

Jbay,
Glad you are still out of the zone. Really sorry to hear about the fire. This on the heels of last year’s Tea House fire must have the front side pretty much all scarred. I use to MTB Jesusita all the time when I was going to school, so I know that area pretty well. Definitely thinking good thoughts for anyone with homes in harms way.…[Read more]

To those considering the June trip –
I gotta pull my name off the possible list, sorry. It was either this or the Downieville MTB fest in July and I picked dirt.
Have fun out there and if anyone needs any general route info for the Hotlum-Wintun just drop me a line.

That bike has two knobby tired wheels and it rolls – you are good to go! Anyone that has mtb’d for a while started on something way less than that bike that costed a lot more.
If you find you really enjoy mountain biking, and that includes just ripping sweet single track with no crazy hucking, you’ll likely discover you want something more down…[Read more]
