Bad ass Colin! In the Sierra last week I saw a Sow and her yearling about 50 yards away upwind before they saw me. I wanted to get the camera, but they were too close and I didn’t want to startle Mamma too much so I called out to them and scared them off.

Observations after reading this post, and in general, this debate, from day 1 through day whatever it is. PS, cheers splitters, it’s been awhile, nice to read ya, can’t wait to split with ya this Winter.
1) It seems to me that the thread about the TLT5s in general is a thread about hardboots, by hardbooters, for hardbooters, and for the most part…[Read more]

BTW, I think you should offer a no questions asked policy on his return. It might convince the douche that took him to bring him back if he’s fairly sure he’s not gonna get popped for car theft.

Dude, that’s just wrong. There’s a special place in hell for the fucker that stole your dog. Hope you get him back soon. ++++Vibes.

I also own the fly creek 1. It’s uber light. Amazingly so, and while I have the same complaint about the front entry (makes it tricky getting in and out such a small tent), I live with it.
Tips: Use your ice ax rather then stakes to keep the…[Read more]

Nice work splitters. Looks fun. Jim aka Inspector Gadget; what exactly is that? Some sort of crash pad for bouldering or a dual use sleeping pad/chair? Intriguing….

I may be in the area for business..if so, I’ll be there.
I like the H/W route though that PJ mentions. Guessing the road access opens much earlier this year, and conditions could be ripe for a 7k descent over there. 😉
Also, I’m down for whatever Lassen stuff.

You might need pics for help on this. It’s kind of confusing to read your description.
The voile pucks are set up such that one of them can be “flipped” for larger boots. I couldn’t describe how to do it, but trial and error is how I would get it accomplished. I’m specifically talking about the center disk that holds the slider puck down. Try…[Read more]

I was hoping to get to the Negatives. Is Yost Meadow all melted out? Mt Dana? Mt Morrison? Ugh what happened to the snow?
No, yost meadow has snow and everything above it. As of yesterday (I have sources 😉 ) But you better go quick if you want any chance of riding it out to the highway.

I’m assuming that did not wreck your beacon man (or probe), but I wouldn’t do that with mine! To each his own though….
Which…btw….I did a 4K’ tour once without them, and tbh, I survived. Like Tex say’s they may not be required…but they sure do help a lot.

So here’s the part that Tex didn’t explain.
Tex and I talked on the phone the night before. He wanted to leave early. I said later was fine. We got to the TH first and nobody was there, but breaking trail was slow going and a bitch with all the new snow. About 1/2 way up we here a group behind us. 2/3 of the way up 4 splitters catch up in our…[Read more]
