Baker is a shred mecca of course and may be on its way to becoming a split mecca, I counted over a dozen splitters in the upper lot yesterday, the most I’ve seen in one place in Washington. It could have been the bluebird and pow that pulled em out of the woodwork. Paradise at Mt. Rainier might deserve a mention.

For solo trips I use a cot in the truck bed. Nice to have the space to put on boots inside or stack up boards. Cots are nice because they are fold up out of the way and if the weather is nice you can sleep outside. $30-$100 depending on the model. I might be interested in these. I think I saw another thread that suggested the G3’s don’t work so hot with the sparks due to where they strike the base plate, causing damage to the binding. Have you tried em with your sparks yet?

Well, if getting ripped off qualifies someone for gear I guess I qualify. Truck broken in to in downtown Seattle. They got a BCA pack with two transcievers, probes, camera, ipod etc. Didn’t take my board though. Those tweakers are stoked! Can you imagine two crackheads trying to figure out what the transcievers are?

I’ll chime in for the Voile shovels: bomber. Also, the BCA Chugach is a seriously badass shovel. Huge scoop, D-handle and oval shaft is rad. Good luck fitting it in your average daypack but it really moves a shit load of snow in a hurry.

Burton has an awesome warranty. I returned my S168 for the tip/tail clip problem and they overnighted a new board. The new board has bushings on the clip pegs. Will have to wait and see if that solves the problem or if the clips will wear out as an earlier post suggested. The new board has a gap between the board halves at the tail but I’m not…[Read more]

Damn. My S-168 does the same thing. Nose/tail clips come undone constantly. Really annoying. Fix myself or warranty? Hmmm.

You should contact Voile about your slider plate. You might be pleasantly surprised by their outstanding customer service.

Fire starting is a thread unto itself. Dryer lint stored in a film canister is good tinder and weighs little. I’ve started packing a Jetboil. Heat soup and torch the forest if you like. Invaluable above treeline.
