As a former hardboot carver I would state canting angles are overrated. And heel and toe lift ar often overlooked.
For my solid board i use a flat lifterplate in the front. And a Burton unicant set at about 7degrees heel lift and 1degree canting in the rear. ( would run a unicant disc in the front to if I could find one)
Angles that might sound…[Read more]Gunnar replied to the topic swallow tail mod in the forum DIY and Mods 8 years, 2 months ago
I have modded an old twintip to make a poderboard for my 10year old boy. It was a huge success! he can now follow my speed and his legs lasts a full day compared to when hes on his full rocker twintip that gives him a burning rear leg in forest powder . I will mod boards the same way for our younger girls when they are ready for pow.
I have also…[Read more]

I have an idea stuck my head. My old Dynastar 4807, Burton Fish and Voile Swallow needs to be replaced.
What I want is as much float and speed as possible. But also need at least as good handling around the trees, as on the 4807 and Fish.
I’m only boarding when it’s more or less powder or slush. On ice, hard-pack and at work I’m on skis anyway. So…[Read more]Gunnar replied to the topic Float – Length vs width vs rocker vs camber… in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 10 years, 2 months ago

Well, I guess the ride down depends heavily on what type of skis the board is based on. Enough soft
rocker in both ends (or along the whole ski/board, as on Volkl Nunataq, ) should make the ride more nimble then with old clambered skis and an open and traight swallowtailGunnar replied to the topic Anyone here ACTUALlY used a 3pc splitter? in the forum Splitboards 10 years, 4 months ago
Thanx Burton! As mentioned, I’m dreaming of a 3piece made out of 3 full rockered skis. Have anyone gone that way before?

Any picks of a 4 piece?
Gunnar replied to the topic Anyone here ACTUALlY used a 3pc splitter? in the forum Splitboards 10 years, 4 months ago
Do anyone have a link to that picture of a 3 piece-splitter made out of 2 randoneeskis.
I’m trying to fint 3 old rockerskis to make my own 3 or 4 piece splitboard. I guess some soft flex womens powderskis like Line Pandora would work.
I would allso like to se a picture of a 4 piece splitboard?Gunnar replied to the topic Anyone here ACTUALlY used a 3pc splitter? in the forum Splitboards 10 years, 11 months ago

Sorry for bumping such an olt thread! I have seen a photo of a 3piece split made of a pair of randoskis. Do anyone here know more about that board?
Gunnar replied to the topic What would be your perfect board? in the forum Splitboards 13 years, 12 months ago
It would be one with plenty of rocker, taper and a wide nose. More playful and maneuverable in trees, and more speed and float then Burton Fish.

The new Bentmetal Dual-axis buckles are amazing! I can cank them down so hard I want to, and more. Now I dont have to stop at the top and tighten my slopy old Malamuts to the edge of risking braking the laces anymore, to get secure heelgrip.
They are, by fare the best ratchets I have ever used!Gunnar replied to the topic Highback removal? in the forum Bindings 14 years, 3 months ago

Ok,. here it is.
At first i just moved the insides of the highbacks forward, to make them aligne better to the boots. That increases the space behind the highbacks, so it is possible to angle them more backwards for skinning.
If your not shure your boots are soft enough to alow more backwards movement. Then it can be worth trying a few laps…[Read more]

Gunnar replied to the topic Big problems on a swallow/ Best brdshape for breaking crust? in the forum Splitboards 14 years, 5 months ago
Thx Scooby. I have not had any problem at all in crust on my Fish, or fishtailed 4807.
For once, I blame the equipment 100%. The long and narrow swallowtails acts exactly like the tails on skiis in crust, making it impossible to skid.
The problem could be solved by adding a powderchannel, matching the shape of the 4807’s fishtail.
I think it…[Read more]Gunnar replied to the topic Highback removal? in the forum Bindings 14 years, 5 months ago
Hi
I just wana report that i now got the Spark bindings.
I really like the funktion of the Bentmetal forward lean mecanism.
One thing that could be done to make it better for splitboarding, is to make the adjustment range larger, backwards.
I moved the highbacks forward one hole on the insides screws, to allow for them to tilt further back. (that…[Read more]Gunnar replied to the topic Big problems on a swallow/ Best brdshape for breaking crust? in the forum Splitboards 14 years, 5 months ago
As said before. Traditional sucks!
I think its possible to make the “speciality gun” shape much more versatile, without loosing any of the pow performance.
I would like to start with adding a powder channel over the swallowtail. That would solve the crust problem. And make much easyer to traverse and land fakie.
I cant se anything negative…[Read more]Gunnar replied to the topic Big problems on a swallow/ Best brdshape for breaking crust? in the forum Splitboards 14 years, 5 months ago

A more traditional shape will work better in those conditions. Keep in mind they suck. Rocker boards are great until it gets icy. In breakable crust I don’t see a big deal with ’em. Pintails are a good (maybe better when you consider skinning option) too.
Yea, I really like my Fish in brakable crust and slush. But in real…[Read more]
