Well I’ve just realized that this place is the EpicSki of snowboarding. Don’t know why I wasted my time reading this thread.

Probably not worth the extra cost/liability to the state by having to keep those roads plowed and open.

    Only 38 minutes from town.

The funny thing is that the hill I worked at in high school has less vertical than that place.

It’s pretty much game on in the notch. Still some sharks lurking, but definitely rideable for the most part.

On a separate note, does anyone know where I’d be able to look for job openings and a place to live in the Stowe area aside from Craigslist? I’m hoping to make the move up there soon (in Massachusetts right now). I probably should have…[Read more]

On the downside, what is it with Burton and their tip/tail clip installations? They are so loose and come open often.

I’ve really been liking the Now IPO bindings. The pivot and dampers really make for a nice ride. Super solid heal cup fit too, but this kinda bothers some people who are not used to it. Well built bindings though.

I’m sure it works for some people, but I just don’t see how I’d be able to ride a board that small and not feel like I was about to die most of the time. Actually, I feel the same way about rockered boards.

As you say, it seems to really come down to where your binding is located relative to where the rocker starts. At least on the designs that are flat or slightly cambered underfoot to a rockered nose and tail.

It definitely makes a huge difference. First time out on the board I had the stance maxed out and it felt extremely unstable.…[Read more]

grubbers replied to the topic Jones solution in the forum Splitboards 10 years, 4 months ago

After spending some time on my Solution, I have to say that I’m not really sure if I like rockered boards. Or at the very least, I’m not sure if I like the rocker on the Jones. I have a fairly wide stance (~23 inches) and that puts my front foot just behind where the rocker starts. As someone who is used to cambered boards, the Jones feels rather…[Read more]

Anyone been out lately? Looks like spring is coming in hot (literally) so most of the snow may not be sticking around much longer (I hope not, but I don’t make the weather). Hoping to get out there to tag a couple slides sometime during the next week or two.

What the splitboard industry lacks right now is the perspective of the hardcore BC rider.

    Couldn’t agree more.

I’m kind of split between both sides. I like the stylings and seemingly laid back approach of the more “freestyle” side of splitting, but I also love climbing mountains and riding technical lines with shitty snow.

If they’ve been splitting less than 5 years…find someone else.

I agree and disagree with this point. Companies definitely need experienced splitters giving input on their products, but a fresh point of view is always a good thing, provided it’s coming from an experienced rider. With the amount of people I see on here talking about…[Read more]

Just as a heads up to anyone looking to get a stone grind for the base of their Solution, there’s a good chance the darker part of the base will stain the lighter one. I just picked up my Solution and had them stone grind it to smooth out the base and smooth out the rivets for the k-clips and the black part of my base ended up staining the white a…[Read more]
