another tip which helps keep your body in position is dont look down at your boards when you are skining, keep your chin up and look strait ahead..also practise on the flatter areas without using your poles, helps to establish getting the grip on the heels instead of putting weight on your poles..and dont rush……

well well we scored today with 20cm of very dry powder..fluffy in spots..stoked to be on the pc spruce cabin….and as you all Know..any splitters heading to nz we will certainly try to show you the best ruapehu we can..snow is forecast..feels a bit like winter is kicking in…

we have just had 2 days of snow to low levels and the weather cleared to a perfect day, the perfect conditions to go ride a small bowl that catches all the snow…

those are exactly the same, i was referring to the square tips on the crampon which cant penetrate into ice…but the lack of weight more than makes up for it, they are in my pack every day i ride and have saved me on some scary traverses…i dont use splitboard crampons on the ice any more after learning the hard way ..

i have 4 contact points on each crampon (air tech) that are not points but screwdriver type points (square tips).. a std 12 pt steel crampon has 12 sharp pin points……unless grivel have updated the air tech?..

i have the air techs and they work well ,not the same security as a 12pt or even the g10…but combined with my ice axe they get you over the hard stuff….so dont forget to get an ice axe , just gives you that extra point of contact..have fun..
