Yeah, stoked they are gonna get things turned around and keep making boards. I bought one of their first splits, and now have a Helix. Top notch quality, for sure. Would love to see a rocker/camber similar to NS or Lib, but no doubt their boards offer a lot of bang for the buck and will hold up to years of thrashing.

The west shore has been delivering for the past week since that storm. I can’t remember snow staying so good for so long in Tahoe, it might actually get tracked out before it gets sunbaked.

For a guy who hates splitboarders, it sure seems like he spends an awful lot of time on this site.

Yeah, the casinos are a good choice if you’re in that area, usually a few campers in the upper lot at the Biltmore. Squaw allows overnight parking in the little pullout across the road from the main lot. They might have some info on their website. Not sure about Sugar Bowl, but if that’s the area you want to be in the rest stop on 80 would work.

I think this innovation leads us to an argument way more controversial than hard vs. soft boot. It’s gonna be a full on war of pant cuff over the binding vs. highback over the cuff. Personally, I think the highback over the cuff pinches and binds the pant leg. And it looks ridiculous. So obviously this system is doomed to fail.

So now posting pics is even tougher than it was before? And when I click on a pic, it only enlarges it a little, still not close to full screen.

I’m feeling a bit stoopid for never noticing, much less using, this “active thread” button that everyone is so worked up about. Can’t believe I’ve been doing it wrong all this time!

This is why the goggles I use in the backcountry are Smith Cascades with the RC36 lenses. Works well enough in all conditions, doesn’t fog, and you can find them for $20-$30. Orange lenses work well, too. The steezy mirrored stuff won’t work well in flat light.

Bring back the old forum but leave all mentions of hardboots here?

I really want to express my feelings about this but there are no emoticons. Seriously. WTF is up with that?
But really, count me among those that preferred the old format, but trying to be patient so bcrider can get it all dialed in. Stoke is stoke, and right now I’m putting most of the blame on Ullr for lack of stoke around here lately. Buffy, thinking about hitting the road sometime around that time. Don’t know if I can stretch it beyond my standard four days off, but might be able to meet up in NV or UT if you end up there. Touch base as it gets closer, my old phone with my contacts was stolen so I don’t have your number anymore.

A quick rub-on wax also works well, just rub it on at the top before you drop in.

The Sierra….well, we’re winning about as much as the NY Jets. We might pull out a W here and there, but overall not so good. Offense is only putting up about 36″ on the upper elevations, can barely kick a field goal down low, and a strong defense = no avalanches. At our current pace we’ll be blowing our top ten draft pick on a second string…[Read more]
