Spray on turtle wax. Apply the day before the tour and buff dry. Worked well in wet snow on my NS prospector.

More importantly, the day of touring let your board sit outside to acclimate to the outside air temp before you strap in. If not, that latent heat due to the board being stored inside a warm environment will melt the snow on the…[Read more]

A 20 oz nalgene in the pack with nuun tablets or Gatorade powder and another fold-able 16oz sawyer on the body with a nuun tablet or Gatorade powder. Use the fold-able first and then the 20oz. Whether I bring both or one is dependent on the objective for a one day tour.

This helps reduce pack weight/lost volume by not needing a huge nalgene…[Read more]

Have you found the cause for the rotation?

From watching the install video, the split disks have a channel the pin slides through from one side to the other side of the binding. I would think that channel has be be the diameter of the pin and my guess is that the channel is wider than the pin, causing the rotation.

Going to shoot off a few more questions to Locus and hopefully pick up a pair. Now to see if I can get a carbon canister (fingers crossed) for the RAS and cut .75lbs off the pack.

How have the Locus Gear CP3 poles stood up to use? Any issues or concerns with the plastic flick locks?

I am looking to replace my BD AL compactors for something lighter.

You also have to think about what you will have on yourself, as that also adds weight which affects board sizing. A 160 would be the max and a 156 a minimum depending on your goals.

From what I have read about both brands, Weston would be my choice. They ride very well and are incredibly stable on both hard pack and powder. The quality is also top notch which will allow many years of shredding in all conditions.

There is a Jones thread around here for more insight on their lineup.

On the bottom of the board it looks like a big chunk has been taken out of the edge. Can you confirm?

downthemtn replied to the topic Overnight Packs, why no good options? in the forum The Gear Room 5 years, 4 months ago

The ultralight route has saved me considerable weight but also alot of space in the pack. Enlightened Equipment for light/packable quilts, Hilleberg for top notch and bombproof tents (Akto), and the Thermarest Neoair xlite is crazy small for a pad.

You could also find a pack that is close to what you want and modify it yourself. Zpacks sells…[Read more]
