Pretty quiet lead up. Checking Mountain Forecast this AM and it’s… interesting. Some new snow might make this one of the fluffiest OR Splitfest yet, but that has all fallen on top of long established snowpack. The good news for the weekend is that it’s cold and it’s going to stay cold Fri into Sunday morning if the freezing point stays at the…[Read more]

Ooh sponsors, the white room could use a nice set of sparks.

I’ll be there, even if it’s dry. Maybe not with 60lbs of excess but surely a pound of bacon at the least.

I’m a slightly duck regular foot if I remember it correctly (been a while since I setup a board) I go 10 to 15 front foot and -3 to -5 back foot. Its pretty close to my natural stance angle for just standing in a balanced position. I’ve ridden more aggressive angles 20 and 10’s but once I went quack I don’t think I could go back.

US 11.5 – 12 depending on who’s boot. *reaches behind himself* Yeah these old hockey style Big5 (5150’s) boots are 12’s.

I’ve tried 11.5 in stores, sometimes they jam my toes a bit. Saloman’s were ok, just enough toe mash that would probably mold to use. Long narrow feet I guess, I fit well into adidas for normal wear. My inbound bindings are…[Read more]

So my Poacher finally gave up. One of my crampon/binding removal tools lost 2 of its 4 tabs that keep it attached to the bottom of the binding. They knew their time was up, thankfully they waited till I was transitioning to boot mode to finally break… Literally, I finished strapping everything onto my pack for booting it down from Tilly Jane;…[Read more]

So… It seems I left my Vibrams (five-fingers, the toe shoes) up at the A-Frame. Likely right on the end of the bench as I switched over to snowboard boots. If anyone happens to know if they were recovered I’d appreciate it. They were sorely missed while I was out in FL.

Feel free to wake up the guy hopefully snoozing in the Blue 4Runner (me). Seems I have a tendency to get out there before the doors can be opened.

Nice, saw this on craigslist thought about it but really 166 is way too long for my skinny butt. Hell I have a hard time with a massive camber 164. Although the width could be nice.

Its a 2008 board btw, I couldn’t get any information on flex or camber but they were quite proud of its stiffness. All sorts of acronymal jargon 😀

Almost 60 at the trailhead, and 40+ at the rim. A June-uary treat indeed. Ripped some big turns in the corn below the rim. Good times!

Anyone got a spare they can loan out? I’m planning on heading out for a 24hr snowboarding adventure this coming full moon weekend. Got a guy at work interested as well, so I thought i’d do him a favor and see if anyone had a spare split. Not going to do anything crazy, just skin back to timberline from skibowl or meadows (most likely skibowl…[Read more]

Intrigued, mostly cause I’d really like to try those spark bindings. Well and cause I went last year too… keg up Alpine would be pretty easy till you hit timberline boundary, pretty straight forward no killer traverses. Get a smaller keg, I read the last one wasn’t even finished off!

164cm Poacher, 2010 I think its got that lime green eco motif on the deck. All Camber, too much camber IMO. When you have to think about how you’re going to plant your foot so the crampon sticks something has to be wrong. I didn’t have much luck with it on Ice and Hardpack(took it out on the resorts before I took it…[Read more]

Thought I’d add to this after OR Splitfest.

I had no problems with the setup going up to Tilly Jane Cabin and then up to Cooper’s Spur (8300ft) the next morning. I did have problems sticking the crampons trying to get back up Cooper’s Spur the following early morning when it was frozen. My theory is that the 164cm has too much camber for my…[Read more]
