• I just picked up an Amplid Milligram 163. I have only ridden it once here in CO so this is just first impressions. One scary thing about buying this board is that typically you are buying it direct from Germany. I wasn’t too sure about how their customer service would be if something went wrong. Unfortunately I did have to deal with some i…[Read more]

  • I have been riding in the front range for the past three years, mainly Berthoud areas and Jones Pass. My main ski partner is hit or miss this year due to a new job up in N. Dakota so I am looking to get out with someone if anyone goes to these areas and likes to go early. I have kids and pretty much go dawn patrol on the weekends and back before…[Read more]

  • +1 on the Arbor Abacus. I have found it very playful and fun in the powder. You just need to bounce it a little bit and it will pop pretty easily.

  • I have used the new bindings since Christmas. Been out on them about 10 times. They are one of the best purchases I have ever made. They make change overs much simpler and you can do it easily with your gloves on. Except for the skiers that can rip skins with their skis still on their feet, the Tesla system puts me pretty much on par with my…[Read more]

  • Thanks Snurfer. I saw a guide do that and it seemed easier but I wasn’t sure about lifting the beacon with every step while hiking. I have hiked with my cell phone in my front pocket before and it seems to restrict movement just a bit. I’ll probably try it in my back pocket next time out and see how it feels. I can pretty easily sew a clip…[Read more]

  • I am six years in on a Voile Mojo 166. I am looking for a new board but that is more to do with wanting to check out the new shapes then this board failing. I have several core shots (not the boards fault) and there are several chips in the top coat as well as some delamination on the edges. I go about 20-30 times a year so I consider this…[Read more]

  • Well it looks like I have a market for my super secret absolutely will not fog under any circumstances $1000 googles that I will have to invent here shortly. Thanks for the information, looks like we are all in the same boat. No point in spending $200 on a pair of googles that will fog the same as my $40 pair.

  • Clarification on a couple of points:

    1. I have tail clips installed. If I didn’t the skins would have failed on the 2nd uphill climb. Tail clips work great but I had a lot of turns on the climb that were pulling the skins to the side that allowed them to unclip and pull off the board.
    2. I am storing these brand new skins same as I did with my…[Read more]

Thanks for the information folks. Unfortunatley I couldn’t find a local dealer to buy these boots from so I ordered them online, which is the reason I am more or less on my own for the heat molding. I don’t want to give the impression that I bought these from Bent Gate and they wouldn’t work with me because I did not (I tried but they don’t sell…[Read more]

Geez barrows, it is just a forum group, no need to get your panites in a wad. I have been boarding for over 20 years and this is the first time I put on a boot and it fit so poorly that my feet went numb. Since I can’t return them if I heat mold them I am risking $300 that the heat molding will work. Talking with Bent Gate they have indicated…[Read more]

Not sure what post people are following on these boots so I have posted in two places. I just picked up a pair yesterday and my first impression is ouch. They are killing my feet just walking around the house. My big toe is up against the inside of the liner but I wouldn’t say they are overly tight length wise. After about 5 minutes my feet…[Read more]

  • What should the expectation be for heat molding? I was really excited to get these boots and the size 9 is just about right as my big toe almost rests against the inside of the toe box. Beyond that the boots feel like they are putting my feet through a meat grinder. The bottom of my feet hurt, the top of my feet hurt and they pretty much go…[Read more]

Thanks, I will try my previous set up of just standard socks and long johns and see if I am back to warm feet.

Surprising about the compression socks though. They are heavily adverstised in Backcountry for what I thought be exactly what we are all doing. Poor choice of advertising if they are not designed for over the calf boots.

    We will…[Read more]

  • Yeah, all good thoughts. I kept my skins indoors the night before going out so they were as warm as they are going to be for the first ascent, didn’t have any problems them anyhow. I should probably give them a good cleaning, the protector mesh for storing them keeps breaking off and leaving pieces on the skins which probably doesn’t help.

    I’ll…[Read more]
