You can order new clips from voile for $12. the nose clip is nothing more than a couple of pop rivets and a piece of plastic. Drill out the old one and pound in a new one.

However, in my experience the voile clips come undone on every board. Someone had a mod with a piece of cord on the board last year, looked pretty cool.

I was up at Silver Basin Sunday. Coverage was still really good – but I think that Sunday is the last day of the season at Crystal. Freezing level is supposed to be heading up to 10,000 feet this weekend

deejayoh replied to the topic Epoxying t-nut holes flush in the forum DIY and Mods 11 years, 10 months ago

Update – I finished the board 2 weeks ago, and my girlfriend and I took it out for it’s inaugural tour on Sunday. Happy to report the flush epoxy worked out great. No need for P-tex

I used 2-part marine grade epoxy (g-flex 650) from west systems. You can pick it up at West Marine supplies if anyone is looking for it.

deejayoh replied to the topic I suck at base repair…help a brutha out. in the forum Tips & Questions 11 years, 11 months ago

There are about 5 different hardness ptex materials. The drip candles are the softest and messiest. if you want to use an iron with ptex you will need to get some of the ptex string or ribbon.

it’s all pretty cheap at tognar

deejayoh replied to the topic Epoxying t-nut holes flush in the forum DIY and Mods 11 years, 11 months ago

what did you do about the t-nuts that were open/did not have a screw in them?

I built out a board and installed 6 t-nuts per side so it would be adjustable – like a factory board. Didn’t think about the fact that I now have to fill a bunch of insert holes with threads going straight through to the top of the board.

    Two options under…[Read more]

deejayoh replied to the topic voile Universal Pucks on a DIY in the forum DIY and Mods 12 years ago

I did 6 per side on the split I am doing for my GF. I am not looking forward to filling those fockers in.

30 holes in total when you add the slider pin mounts.

how much metal bonding ptex did I order?

    😥

Monk came through with some for me. He is the man.

I found some at a stoneway hardware here in Seattle but they only had about 8 in stock.

deejayoh replied to the topic Jigs Jigs Jigs in the forum DIY and Mods 12 years ago

I clamped a straight edge to the snowboard and ran a circular saw down it to get a straight line. Worked pretty well but I had to run the saw down the nose by hand because the straight edge did not bend

I would use a circular saw or table saw, not a band or jig saw. You want a long, straight cut. that’s not was a band saw or jig saw are meant…[Read more]

deejayoh replied to the topic Toe Cap straps in the forum Bindings 12 years ago

ooh. I have a pair of the first year’s Burton cap straps. I call ’em “Crap straps” because they always slip off my back boot. Might try the swapping technique because I’m not really big on paying $40 for another pair of “new improved”

deejayoh replied to the topic Prior Khyber Splitboard in the forum Splitboards 12 years ago

I wouldn’t say the Khyber is such a specialty board. It is not nearly as much so as fish. I have a 160 Khyber and a 160 fish and putting them side by side the Khyber doesn’t have nearly the nose or setback a Fish does. It does have a tapered shape – but not super aggressive like many boards out there today.

    I wouldn’t suggest trying to ride…[Read more]

thier top sheets are shit. very brittle. come off in chunks. the only thing that making me lean towards a Venture for my next ride.

They’re lovely when new. That lasts about 10 minutes. I think mine must have started chipping on the way to the car.

deejayoh replied to the topic Poles? in the forum The Gear Room 12 years, 1 month ago

I picked up a pair of BD flicklock “trekking poles” for $43 at the REI outlet sale. Add a pair of $5 powder baskets and Wa-La! Cheap poles!

I like that the trekking poles have the grip that comes further down the pole. Works great for skinning along a steep pitch

    Hey –
Just getting back to read this. I pulled the trigger on a NS SL-R earlier this week. It’s sposta be delivered on Thursday. In the end I went with the power of the 3-yr warranty – that plus you can’t even find a Lib BTX board around these days. Everyplace has had a run on anything reverse camber

the amazing thing to me is that the readers of this forum probably constitute 75% of the people who are paying the Voile “patent tax”.

I got curious about the Voile Patent after reading this. Looks like it doesn’t expire until 2017 (20 years after application is apparently the new rule)

unless this is the wrong one. looks right based on the drawings.

Kind of cool that google has all of this stuff online!
