A very genuine human being. I’d been meaning to make it out to his bakery in bishop for a while now. RIP scottie. For more info on the accident and some personal accounts, go here: http://www.supertopo.com/climbing/thread.html?topic_id=176881&f=0&b=0 Be safe out there…[Read more] ChrisI replied to the topic TPR – It Doesn’t Suck ™ in the forum Trip Reports 15 years ago That definitly did not suck! You’ve outdone yourself with that TR, Jim; good stuff. 8) Thanks again to everyone for making it a great trip! bcr, the pack’s the Exposure 36. I was looking for something smaller than my Ceres 50, but bigger than my other daypacks (which will probably get sold.. I dig the exposure). So far I’m really happy with…[Read more] ChrisI replied to the topic Tioga Pass Resort in the forum Trip Reports 15 years ago TPARRRRRRR!!! Hey Y’all; figured I’d add my two cents. It was awesome as always to see & ride with everyone. Even better with the addition of the stylie TPR (arrrrr) and awesome crew there. After that soggy snow on Monday, I’m thinking that hardboots might just be the route for me.. dun dun dun.. 😈 p420, can we be expecting some…[Read more] ChrisI replied to the topic Tallac 3/26 in the forum Trip Reports 15 years ago Way to get on it Steve & SF! Rockin TR, too. Sorry I couldnt make it up there this weekend. I’ve been itching to check out Tallac from day 1. It might have to wait for next season, though. 8) SF, dont blame ya for not surfing. I havnt been out all March, either, and I’m short walking distance to the ‘point. None of these big storms have…[Read more] ChrisI replied to the topic A Little Question for the Rap Crowd in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 15 years ago k, swordfighting aside… here’s a hijack. (Nuptse & Bomber Split Bindings) in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 15 years ago I’ve considered going the AT boot route, but I’m not there quite yet.. The bomber split bindings are on the menu because I’m getting a great deal on some. 8) I was hoping I could stiffen up the uppers with a powerstrap and some garmont tongues.. Something tells me I might be trying to hard.. So yeah, the bcd highback is probably going to be the…[Read more] ChrisI replied to the topic A Little Question for the Rap Crowd in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 15 years ago Ice, I havnt tried (Im too damn cheap to bail from sewn slings) bailing from spectra, but I’d imagine the issue to be moreso the rope burning through the sling when you pull it, not the other way around. Sounds like they might be cautioning against lowering from a sling.. Also, i’d be nervous about even rapping off of it, for sure.. aluminum rap…[Read more] ChrisI replied to the topic For the Nuptse Gang.. (Nuptse & Bomber Split Bindings) in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 15 years ago Im about to hijack my own thread… affix, PA represent! I grew up in the Poconos, pretty close to Jack Frost. Snow’s a bit better out here. 8) ChrisI replied to the topic backpacks in the forum The Gear Room 15 years ago Hmm, I dig the avalung pack idea, too. If it were incorporated into a pack, I might be more prone to carry it. Dont know anything about them, but I bet you could get a sideways carry with the top-flap-straps, at least on the bottom one. ChrisI replied to the topic backpacks in the forum The Gear Room 15 years ago P420, there’s gonna be a whole gang of matching Ceres people @ TPR. This should be interesting. Such a bomber pack; I’ve even used it as a haul bag! 😈 Also, right on about the snowboarding-specific brands.. None of them have been holding up to the abuse over the last few years. Think about going with brands like Marmot, Patagonia,…[Read more] ChrisI replied to the topic backpacks in the forum The Gear Room 15 years ago I’ve been really happy with my Osprey Ceres 50.. With some work, I bet you could do a night or two ines a Ceres 38, but even the 50 felt pretty tight until I got my systems dialed (an ongoing process).. Another thing to consider is go get a smaller daypack to piggyback onto a 40/50 liter overnight pack.. I’ve been thinking about using a Switch…[Read more] ChrisI replied to the topic Earned Turns in Mt. Rose bc in the forum Trip Reports 15 years, 1 month ago Good god he’s real! I knew Fassy was hiding something! Was great riding with y’all this weekend, as usual. It’s my unprofessional opinion that snow chains are highly overrated.. *eyes cold-looking chain control guys*.. “These are not the droids you’re looking for…” 8) More snow this weekend! Awesome work on the TR Jim. Makes me feel all kinds of lazy over here. The next one’s going to have to involve some splits. Great pics! I’ll work on getting y’all into better focus next time. 8) I’ll have to do some fact checking on the osin prices, but man, what a great board. I’ve got the same stove, but I’ve found myself deferring to friends with MSR stoves for chores like that.. I’m going to have to haul some canisters up there soon to find out for myself. Ever try the copper tube canister warmer mod? -C ChrisI replied to the topic Northern Bridgers 1/6-1/8 (a little pic heavy) in the forum Trip Reports 15 years, 2 months ago Annnnd that looks like mac-n-cheese and ham. -C Load More
