Is it true that they DQ’d a guy on MTN Approach? Seems we have a divide amongst backcountry snowboarders, shouldn’t we respect each others form of ascent? I mean I don’t like carrying a board on my back but I don’t hate on those who do it.

That new Chimera shape looks interesting to say the least. That would have been fun to try. I like what they are doing over there and it was great to see how many people were running Chimera at the Splitfest.

I’ve been using cramp on’s now everytime I get into the track and it’s amazing. The thinking is that I’m not getting any glide so I might as well get grip. It makes everything easier especially switchbacks. And when the track gets slippery from high traffic I still have bite. Just wondering RogueRider, was it Pete Swenson himself who replied “no splitboarders”? I know that guy, used to be his mechanic when he raced Mountain Bikes.

I must have had some hope in my eyes on first glance, but now I see it works on Voile pucks. Damn, I hate those things. Seems if we are evolving into channeled boards we could evolve beyond that puck. I guess it must have been icing too much with the Edison interface.

Still a cool looking binding, but it only solves the problem of the pin.

They look sweet. A couple of observations:

1. Looks like Burton has adopted EST for their Splits, that’s cool!
2. The interface doesn’t use pucks, it’s an evolution of the Edison that interfaces with EST. Hoping there is a mount that works for factory splits and DIY and solids.

This thread inspired me to try an ascent with the straight edges inside, what a mistake. I use the Karakoram clips and I’ve never tripped on my gear so many times. Literally took a knee some 10 times over 2500ft. There’s no way I’m putting the straight edge inside for the hike ever again.
