Looks like we have a nice storm on our doorstep. Already have over an inch in east layton. Monte cristo snowtel is reporting 12inches. Looks like it might be another more northern dump at least with this first wave. Sounds like lake effect is going to play a big part. Anyone planning on getting out? :headbang:
I may try and get out on sunday and see what things are like, supposed to be pretty warm for the next few days so we will see what temps do between now and then.
I thought I saw a few guys slogging their way up the steep stuff on the john paul side. I almost considered catching on to your skin tracks but I was a bit to tired from going up top. Was it as deep over there as it was below middle bowl?
I got out yesterday to snowbasin. Hit the upper parking lot about 930, it was dumping snow. probably 2.5 feet in spots at that elevation. Trail breaking the first 1/4 mile wasn’t a very nice intro to the season. (boy am I out of shape) Then the snowcats made their way up and I caught onto there tracks. Made it to the upper lodge in no time after…[Read more]
Game on folks!
😯 alright, I am DEFIANTLY going out tomorrow! I will be solo if anyone up north wants to join.
I drove past the snowbasin area yesterday and in to the ogden valley. They got dumped on. nws SNOTEL is reporting almost 1.5 inches of water at the benlomanId site. I am probably going to head out tomorrow to basin and use their runs to gain.access to higher terrain. Spot forecast is calling for another 3/4 of an inch of moisture tonight/tomorrow.…[Read more]

Sad to see this happen. We have some seriously iffy conditions this year, and it won’t be getting much better. That itch to get the good riding is hard to deny. Its low angles and and trees for me this year.
Thoughts are with his family and friends.
Stay safe everyone.

tnutting from the top
I think it’s a great idea. Looks sweet! Don’t mess with the base if you don’t have too. I’ve racked my brain with this issue… but the problems are that now you’ve cut out a sizeable length of core where you experience a great deal of stress (underfoot). And the tnuts are only as strong as the adhesive used…

chase_e replied to the topic New beacon Ortovox 3+ VS Tracker 2 in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 12 years, 6 months ago
I have no experience with the Otrovox.
The Tracker 2 seems like it will be a tried and true especially after the success and usability of the original tracker.
I picked up the Tracker2 towards the end of last season. I took it out on a handful of trips and was really happy with it. It’s smaller,…
looks like you hit the jackpot for mellow stuff snurfer, where was that at?
11/21/2010 BCC, Mill D north.
The trail had about 5-8″ of powder and grauple mix (I had more snow at my house). Adjacent W/SW terrain appeared ridable, while most of the E/SE was sparsely covered.
After skinning with JiveStick form the road to the Dog Lake/Desolation trail marker I decided to go off on my own an brake some trail…

Just another reason to avoid the cottonwoods like the plague when the season starts. Tex has got it right, mostly.. Anywhere north of slc has some great riding potential, you just have to work a little harder to get there.
went to LCC yesterday, got some great early season turns. only ran into a few people, and they were gone by noon. only hit one rock spot, because I am an idiot and got out on a sun exposed lower elevation rock band..
Some of the best early season riding yet. :bananas: :doobie:

Great stoke zach! Was up at alta as well, but not knowing where I was going I ended up by supreme after following some guys.
What an epic first day! :doobie:
I’m heading up LCC in the morning. Probably have a look around in BCC later in the day… Stoked
I’ll be on the look out for you. headed to lcc myself! I just just couldn’t pass up this snow :disco: :doobie:
Where did you go?
wondering the same thing myself, want to get out tomorrow. Sounds like a decent amount should fall tonight with lake effect. NWS is calling for up to 12. Not a bad amount if there is a ridable base! :bananas:
they got hammered last night, a bit of rain mid night so might have a wicked crust already. But looks like another 12-18 inches by tomorrow morning! Hoping to get out tomorrow morning myself.
