my experience with the dual heel risers is that the high one is to high. If you need that heel riser the skin track is too steep to skin up and I slip backwards to frequently. I am not sure why skin tracks seem to get steeper every year but when they get to steep i set my own. I think it would probably be best if our heel risers matched the…[Read more]

Tex
I think “booters” has splitboards for rent. Booters is hoback sports’s snowboard store, it operates during the winter for the last two seasons.
I think you can rent beacons at wilson backcountry at the base of the pass.

Hey great job guys, you completed a season worth of shredding in a short time. I noticed you did not mention names of the lines in the park. The first one is the spoon couliour on disappointment peak, the second big line was the west the hour glass on Nez Perce, the third was the sliver on Nez Perce and the one you bailed of off was the…[Read more]

Drop 3000 vert in one shot and see how long it takes skiers to meet you at the bottom. (30 seconds on a transition hardly stacks up)
Sorry if I repeat what others said above but here is how I try to do it.
Step one be more fit then them, I do have one group that is hard to keep up with but for the most part being in good physical shape keeps me…[Read more]

A few years back wysplit took a pic of me in radio tower couloir riding with my axe in hand. I held the shaft with my right hand with the leash on. I think this was my second time riding with an axe in hand. I remember only taking my axe out this day because the teleskier we were with slid a solid bit and had trouble self arresting. Now i hold…[Read more]

Swedish Banana as I don’t know much about drug testing but i think there are not any drug test that tell when someone is actually stoned, I thinks it just tells if THC has been in your system in the last 30 days plus or minus many factors. Obviously if you acting like a stoned fool that could be grounds for dismissal, but enjoying a smoke at…[Read more]

my main complaint with the 2011-2012 spark boot is the toe is super soft. It provides not protection while kicking steps of steep hard snow, or vertical ice. Has anyone else had the same problem? I think I am going to go back to Burton Driver X’s next year.

I was up there Sunday, It was my fifth attempt to ride the west hour glass and I finally got it. This line has been quite elusive to me, even though many others ski it in great conditions on their first attempt, I guess that’s how snowboard mountaineering goes. Conditions in the coolie were great on Sunday but getting out of Garnet was very…[Read more]

Straight edges outside, side-cut edges inside 100% for sure, anyone who thinks differently has not toured very far.
Not trying to be rude, this is just spiltboard 101.

michelle,
Glad to see your post here. How about posting some more of your TRs here? I like ungrounded, and do check it most days. This is a great place to share knowledge and ideas, it provides a great place for the splitboarding community. What I like best about this forum is there is literally no attitude here, just shred hard and post if…[Read more]

If it took twice as long and had twice as many turns it would be called telemarking.
Telemark = French for flail

brg replied to the topic best towns for splitboarding in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 12 years, 10 months ago
I would look for something in California, they have nice mountains, beaches and grass. The Pacific northwest seems cool too. Interior Rockies has unstable snow, cold temps, and most of the mountain towns are over priced.

i cant think of a time when i am looking for less skin under my split, it seems like all the skin tracks are too steep to get any glide anyways, sometime i end up slipping backwards on icy skin tracks so, I will take all the skin i can get.

I picked up the rossi experience previously known as Jones pro model. It has traditional camber under foot and a nice rockered nose. In pow i have been able to ride with my weight centered over the board, like riding groomers. The board is super stiff and loves going fast and straight. Its a solid board that i use on mount glory and slack…[Read more]

Thanks for your input guys, I fixed the problem, not sure exactly what did it, I added some support to my foot beds and started stretching more. My shin no longer seems to be giving me trouble. it also may have been early season shin soarness.

Its a pretty sweet pic. I think the credit goes to wysplit, I was super stoked to hear that a shot of me dropping an aesthetic couloir was going to be published. All I did was go riding with wysplit, who is a good photographer.
We’ll get out there and shoot some more once we get some flakes.
