Bodynazi replied to the topic new split for 200+ lb rider question (and dynafit?) in the forum Splitboards 7 years, 2 months ago

Sorry – should have asked this question earlier..

    Any thoughts about a 181 vs. 171? I’ve never ridden a 180 (have an Arbor a-frame 171 area board). 6’5 #215 with 28 AT boots.

Would 10cm make the board turn that much slower for trees/rocks/narrow slots?

Would 10cm make that much of a better floating board?

    Thinking I’d be fine w/ the 171 as…[Read more]

Taylor – thanks for the feedback. I’m looking for a do-everything board – and now leaning toward the 270 171 Storm. Riding different types before buying is likely not going to happen – but would of course be great.

firstlight – holy quiver of splitboards Batman! Do you work at a shop or have a connection in the industry? (I hope :)) 5 pr of…[Read more]

Awesome guys – thanks for that info (and apologies for not finding it here).

I’m definitely going to look into that setup on a new board.

Copy on the Storm being easier – I think I’d prefer ‘easy’ vs ‘muscling’ 🙂

    thanks again

    Thanks for the link

I looked high and low for a SD153 and this is the only place in the country that I found it in stock – and it was on sale a little.

Bodynazi replied to the topic 171 Mtn Gun for a ‘big guy’? in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 15 years, 1 month ago

6″4″ 210 and I have a ’71 gun & love it. Mtn plate bindings w/ Scarpa Matrix boots.

Just got back from a week long trip near Kimberly BC Canada – hut trip – got helicoptered in – boarded for 7 days & got flown out (averaged close to 5K/day elevation). Working on getting the photos together and getting some pics up here….

Bodynazi replied to the topic Looking for recommendations on day trip packs in the forum The Gear Room 15 years, 2 months ago

I have a Ceres 38 that I love for for ice./rock climb approaches – after I modifed it to not rely on the lid for part of the support of the pack. Regarding that for BC riding, I was not impressed w/ it. It does not carry a board very well – you need to McGuyver a strap at the top of the pack to keep the board tight against the pack. Also, 2800…[Read more]

Bodynazi replied to the topic A new reason to bring your dog into the backcountry in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 15 years, 2 months ago

I’m w/ Bighorn. Chalk up another response for leaving your dogs at home. I’m a huge animal lover & thus so, vegitarian, but I’m way not into having them in the backcountry & don’t go w/ folks who want to bring dogs.

Bodynazi replied to the topic What are you wacky hardbooters running for angles? in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 15 years, 2 months ago

thanks for the link Zach. I can see that style making sense on groomers, but I’m still missing something @ the whole carving deal in the BC (at least anything other than casual wide open runs). Running steep couloirs where you have to make v. fast & precise turns doesn’t seem condusive to v. steep angles & ‘carving’. Again, obviously I’m less…[Read more]

Bodynazi replied to the topic What are you wacky hardbooters running for angles? in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 15 years, 2 months ago

I first set up the ’71 gun w/ 45/35 angles – and it was crazy different than my ‘in bounds’ set up of 15/0. I did an area day to see if I could get used to the steeper angles. I didn’t. I got thrashed like a red-headed step child on bump runs and I was not confident ripping it up in the trees.

Some of the BC runs I do require that I make…[Read more]

Bodynazi replied to the topic 171 Mtn Gun for a ‘big guy’? in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 15 years, 2 months ago

I have a ‘gun 71 and am 6’4″ 210-15 (depeding upon how much I’m lifting) and love the board. My ‘in bounds’ board is an A-Frame 170 which I also love. I’m sure a longer board would float in pow better, but never having ridden one, the 170/71 boards work fine. I’ve ridden the ‘gun in all conditions including 2″ of fresh w/ no problems.

    I have…[Read more]

Bodynazi replied to the topic Newbie here looking at AT boots in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 15 years, 4 months ago

Thanks for the beta folks. I picked up a pr. of Scarpa Matrix last night. Snug, comfy, and pretty light compared to other models of AT boots. Pretty charged to try them out. Now I have to worry @ gouging the new board w/ early season conditions.

    praying for snow in CO.

Bodynazi replied to the topic Newbie here looking at AT boots in the forum Splitboard Talk Forum 15 years, 4 months ago

thanks for the beta guys – I need to get to Bentgate & REI and try on their AT boots. I do plan on kicking the angles steeper over my ‘typical’ board stance. I have backcountry boarded in my ice cilmbing boots (Scarpa Alpahs and Solomen Super Mt Guide 9s) but that was w/ strap-in bindings – and control on crud or hard pack is lacking at best w/…[Read more]
