When it comes to Avalanches and backcountry safety in general, many people are quick to shame or call out others for their errors. While doing so, they place themselves on a pedestal as though they have always made the proper decisions during backcountry travel.  Time and time again though, experienced riders, snow travelers, and even avalanche forecasters fall victim to poor decision making in the mountains. Regardless if the mistakes were made due to powder fever, group dynamics, lack of communication, or just a lack of understanding, shaming and name calling never benefit the situation. Once we can collectively move past this behavior, we hope more people will be comfortable with sharing their experiences. Learning from our errors, and the errors of others, is what will improve our communities snow safety.
