Dakine sources new SC Shovel from Voile due to their history of manufacturing durable and reliable backcountry products
Salt Lake City, Utah – When Dakine wanted new branded shovels, they wanted ones worthy of the Dakine name. One with a long history of durable, reliable performance in the backcountry. One made by an American company, in America. So naturally they reached out to Salt Lake company Voilé Manufacturing, long-time makers of simple, solid avalanche shovels built to perform in the big mountain backcountry.
“I use the SC shovel and probe almost everyday. They integrate perfectly into my Dakine backpack. The probe extends in seconds, and the shovel comes in handy for building jumps and is the most important tool for avalanche safety” says Dakine athlete Eric Pollard.
“We could not be more pleased to be working with such a respected brand. Dakine sees the value in our high quality US based manufacturing of avalanche rescue shovels.” says Voile Sales and Marketing Manager David Grissom.
The Dakine-branded, Voilé-manufactured shovels can be found at Dakine retailers this fall.
About Voile Splitboards
In 1991, Brett “Cowboy” Kobernik brought a crude prototype of the first splitboard to Mark “Wally” Wariakois, the founder of Voile. At the time Wally was intensely focused on innovating new backcountry ski and telemark binding designs, but he saw the future of backcountry snowboarding in Cowboy’s crude design.
Over the next few years, Cowboy and Wally refined this idea and in 1994 released the first DIY Voile Split Kit. This was the beginning of the splitboard revolution. For the first time riders had a truly innovative and easier way to access backcountry powder.
Voile went on to develop and produce a more refined, adjustable, Voile splitboard interface and Voile splitboard insert pattern. This is the foundation for all Voile splitboards and other splitboard brands that have followed.
Today, Voile is as committed to the growth and innovation of splitboarding as those exciting early days. From the beginning, Voile splitboards and Voile splitboard hardware is proudly made in Salt Lake City, Utah USA.
