Burton teamed up with Will Ritter, from Spark R&D , to develop a boot for splitboarding. These efforts created multiple prototypes, which were revised until the Burton Tourist was born. The Tourist, was able to tick several things off any splitboarder’s hit list. Building upon the sole of the tried and true Driver X, the team was able to reduce the overall footprint of the boot, add semi-auto crampon capability, and increase the boots rearward flex for increased stride while touring. The boot features Speed Zone lacing for quick and easy adjustments of both the upper and lower zones. Before you traditional lace loyalist squack, Burton kept you in mind by allowing traditional laces to be used as well. For more details, check it out here, or read Alex Showman’s review, at Backcountry Magazine.

The ultimate splitboarding boot with innovations that improve both the climb up and the ride down. Skintrack or summit bid, the NEW Burton Tourist Boot handles with the mountains with surefooted confidence. More negative flex than any other boot in the line enhances glide in the skintrack, while a heel welt adds cramp-on compatibility. An array of insulating features are key on pre-dawn starts or snow camp missions. Developed with Spark R&D, the Tourist sticks to the same trusted Driver X sole that has developed a decade-long cult following with the backcountry crowd.
