I'm looking at building a cabin up in my stomping area. I know where quite a few of them are and have got some ideas about what I want to do, but I'm wondering if you guys have any advice when it comes to building cabins. Focusing on more design, materials, and maybe anything about location selection. I know I want to build an A Frame type space maybe 24'X12' and use a lot of lodgepole. Materials I will probably use rope, trees, and tarps along with bolts/nails. I don;t know what design would be the best/easiest/most heat effective design
Damn those photos make a pretty legit cabin. I've definitely seen some similar ones, not anything you can tow though. I was looking at this site most last night http://www.freecabinporn.com sfw.
I'm looking to do something a bit more ghetto. I don't think I'll have a mill. Looking to hike in everything about 3 miles.

I'll dedicate a few weekends of work on your project Hippie, after I finish mine of course. BTW how goes the work on the Hewlet fire? Better get that shit under control so we can get after it this weekend. Oh yeah, and don't be hungover. Your slow enough as it is youngster
i built this, but had to use 20+ poles to make it hold through the winter. and dont bother using the ripped 2x4's , its got to be real poles. i used mine 3 seasons before the canvas wore out.
An A frame would be better probably, i may get one done for this year too. athough the tipi did work pretty damn good, but the poles did bow in under the weight of the snow and reduce the usable space.
