Zig Zag Canyon thru tour to Paradise Park

Aussie Elliot, Next Chris and myself did a shuttle trip yesterday from Timberline Lodge down through Zig Zag Canyon, dropping down to hit the Paradise Park trail. Left my car down at the campground, and Aussie Elliot (tokin' skiier) drove us up to the lodge to get started. We skinned up about 2000 feet to start our descent from around 8000 feet.

The line. We rode from the top of what you can see here. Surprisingly nice pow, mostly light and soft for around 2000 feet or so.

It's crazy beautiful in there.

The next section looked nice, but it cliffs out down there...

Then we dropped down towards the trees, and it was time to start navigating.

Hit a tree super hard and broke a pole. Got hella bruised. No pics of my wretchedness, sorry kids. :wink:

Elliot guided us spot on to the trail, then it was a simple 3 mile stumble downhill.

...with nice views.

Eventually the car rolled into site, a coldish 18 pack of Rainier was waiting and we celebrated another great day on Hood. Powder in May! Was almost 11 miles from start to finish.

Nice - I rode the canyon about a month ago and it was really nice. Glad to see it's holding up!

Can't wait to try mine out! I scored some Mtn Plates as well. In honor of the hardbooters, I started digging through the video archives and came up with some OG central Oregon shredding.

Looks like a good time in Zig Zag. Always wondered about what was in there. Also good to see some hardboots! Didn't think I'd be representing solo at Splitfest.

BBQ'd at Meadows yesterday. Good to get up and ride the Meadows lifts one last time.
