To do Austria justice you must call it by it's true name, eh...I've spent alot of time in Österreich, and it truly is an amazing place with amazing alpine backcountry. And alot of one-sie rockin' skiiers.
I have a good friend whom is looking to start a pension in Österreich next winter. They're going to be scouting in Zillertal in May. The idea is to provide a place where snowboarders/splitters can go to a cool town in Österreich and be shown a good time by an Austrian, and an American whom have spent many years in the Salzburg, and Tirol regions.
My goal is to recruit some splitters..go over for a month, shred, and get lots of photos for marketing. I'm hoping to do this in exchange for some free lodging.
It could be really sick, so feel free to PM me over the next months.

CLASSIC! thanks MH.
Ron, I do not know what my season holds for next year, but this sounds like something I would be interested in. Lets keep in touch on this.
Shhhh....Karkis...don't say the word "socialist" too much. Some Merican' hee haws may get scared there's Commies up nort, and get all angry about something that's logical.
There are no Ostriches in Austria any more due to the high global Swede infestation. Tight jeans, and douchie Ostrich boas became "all the rage" in Sweden and unfortunately Ostriches and other Swede dudes buttholes took the brunt of it.
Barrows/Karkis...I'll send you guys a msg once my friend has finished scouting. I'm meeting with my buddy before he leaves back to Europe on Thursday.

what's so mystic about my home country anyway?
where in the zillertal are they planning to start their business? are they mountain guides? i guess we're interested aswell, we've been to the zillertal a few times already, know some nice spots there and live only about 6hrs by car from the zillertal. would be cool to stay at a snowboarder/splitter specific pension!
Tuff, I don't think I said Austria was mystical. It just holds a special place in my and some good friends hearts. We've spent some good times there.
I don't know what village they're looking to start, but they're checking them out now. One of the partners is a newly certified guide. I still have to looking into rules in such, but I'm planning to help out guiding as well once I get the lay of the land.(if that's even possible to guide)
And that's the whole idea offering a different view of the Austrian alps from a "dirt bag" approach. Sell gear, guide the guests, the whole experience A-Z.
That's how we grew to love Austria.. roll to SPAR before the lift opens, grab a Krapfen and Jogurt drink, Shnitzel semmel from the local butcher, hide from the lifties as we duck ropes, hash doobies, roll up to some sidehill restaurant, play the "nail" game, drink schnapps, get loaded, and hope to hell you don't kill yourself on the Rodelbahn (a super slick track for super fast sleds), try not to get into fights with the English, Swedes, or Germans for who the hell knows why, drink til' wee hours of the morning, try not to puke, rinse, repeat.

Saw a cool documentry last night called ski heil.
Fascinating perspetive from four 90 yo men about the birth of skiing in Austria, and then skiing for a living during Nazi germany.
One dude , Guzzi, did a sick 3 hut roof top pillow step down... in 1920 something!!!
highly recomend if you like wwII and ski history. not much action, and the sub titles are hard to read in the snow(sometimes). but it's not brainfarm...
Would love to go to Austria! my moms mom side of the family are all german/austrian refugees from that time period.
Ale, Start saving your money now brother...It'd be outstanding to have you along.
Shooting for 4wks starting mid Feb.

Ale, I've got a miracle for you ...The fact your ride the lines you do on the completely smashed to shit equipment you ride is a fokkin' miracle right there. When you showed me that older brown board...I thought you were bullshittin' me.
You need to go gaffle Kyle and swipe some of that sponsor steez he's got. That's would be the most cheech'd , duct tape shoe flyin' UFC match ever.
I'll stay in touch later on this...we may be able to figure a way over there for you.
