Got a last minute reprieve from work on Saturday and gave Aaron (aksltxt) a call. It was bluebird, something resembling powder, and the new snow was stabilizing, so I figured he had something good planned. Turns out a car shuttle to hit a few zones off Echo Summit was on the menu and Aaron was kind enough to let me tag along.
The pit results may have been good but Aaron still has a good grip on the granite.
Scoping the zone. Echo lake in the background.
Chris lines up and drops a rock just below the ridgeline.
Kelly makes some soul turns
Then Aaron hits it with a little rock ride variation.
Aaron riding a techy little rollover further down on our 2nd lap.
Kelly stomping a landing in some good snow.
Chris follows and airs it out.
Aaron booting up to the ridge for our last lap after skinning across a frozen Echo Lake. Crystal Range in the background. It was about 12:00 now and getting hot.
No pics from the final descent because I was too busy blasting through surprisingly well preserved pow. After a little bushwhacking and wondering where exactly we were, we made our way back to my jeep. Turns out that my cargo box fits 4 splits and a solid. Not bad.
Great day. And finally getting my riding legs under me so now let's see some more snow.
