Im tired of corroded alu noodles and are looking for some high performance carbon 3 sectioned poles. so far i found these

http://www.blackdiamondequipment.com/en ... -pole-2011

http://www.komperdell.com/en/poles/trek ... 410_10.php

Also does anybody have any experience with this type of poles?

My wife broke my (2-section) carbon pole inbounds. Got replaced without any questions, but in the bc this could have been a major problem. I have also seen issues with bike carbon bars (Easton) and forks (whatever comes on Specialized, not sure who manufactures them). This is just in our family, not hearsay (like hearing about someone breaking a carbon Goode ski, etc.)

In result, I am seriously considering avoiding carbon for the bc and don't run it on my mtb.

Cheers
Ivo

I had some Komperdell's snap just below the grip. They were two years old and were used for winter touring and some summer trekking. They weren't nearly worked enough to break IMO.

I went back to aluminum BD's. I've bent aluminum sectioned poles, but have never broken them. Unless you're gram counting, go with Black Diamond triple section aluminum poles IMO.

I have the carbon cork from BD and really like them. Once you tighten the screws on the locks for your prefered length you can rest your entire body weight on them with no problem (at least for me, 75kg without equipment).
It's worth nothing, that when the lock screws are tightened so that they lock on the upper part of the poles (for example 130cm), where the pole is thicker, the lock can't hold the lower part, where it is thinner and vice versa

BD Expedition Poles, without any doubts.

none of the above..

carbon breaks, aluminum bends. A bent aluminum pole will still work till you get home.

that's my :twocents:

I am wondering, are you guys speaking about breaking carbon poles out of first hand experience (either you or some close mate), or are you just throwing general assumptions around?
