My leatherman and some sesame crackers.

I tied a man purse to my belt because it had no pockets. So wax, gloves for changing skins , Gopro, Ipod, sunblock.

Usually a compass, sometimes a multi-tool...

Trash.

Medicine. The hippie kind.

Always snacks in one, and the other is either a camera, or a map and compass.

I have a big mountain smith pocket I added to the hip belt of my pack and I carry too much in it.

- Sun tan lotion (when I was in CA at least!)
- Snack
- Map and compass
- Chapstick
- Camera
- Knife sometimes
- Sunglasses case

The fact is I use everything in there once a tour and many items many times more. It can get floppy (that's what she said!) but usually I don't notice- haha!

I love hip pockets since there is no fussing with the pack or having other people help you get things. My pants don't have pockets and I don't use my jacket pockets for whatever reason so the hip belt pocket is essential for me.

Funny so many others said it...

Only mainstay is a compass. My pockets aren't all that large, and hard to get into. Depends on the season though.

I don't like keeping anything electronic, or anything that works better warm, in the hip belt.

Trinity of life is usually in my puffy pocket sine I know it will be on during any safety discussions.

Not much really.

I suspect a lot of people keep a lighter, something made of glass, and something green...
