Finally got a break in the storms... We've gotten 220" in February alone and they're calling for another blizzard tonight and tomorrow. So I took advantage of our short, very short, window and went out for a little hike. I couldn't round up any partners on such short notice though, so I went out to the pass where there's always lots of eyes on you.

Nice D. Sorry I missed you. After sitting on top of a line for 2.5 hours in a snow shelter waiting for the storm to clear the day prior (to no avail) I left at first light in order to beat the clouds. It payed off but I wish I woulda talked to you. We were both solo and only a couple of ridges away! I saw a group of 4 start climbing up that couloir you climbed at about 11am. You must of got there just after. Stoked to have a boot pack! Clouds came in for me at about 1pm. I was 1/2 way up my third line so I topped out and rode some flat light down to the road and bailed. Once I was on the road it seemed like the sun came back out so I was bummed I left. Stoked for you man! That book looked sick!

Way to get after it D Those are some serious "ribs". I as hoping our weather forecast would be wrong again and our short little window would stay open for another half day or so, but not to be so resort storm riding until the next opening. Can't wait to see the vids

There was a skin track all the way to the peak of Tincan, and 3 other people had put in a skin and boot pack up a chute in The Library for me as well. The 4th person you, Snowsavage, saw dropped in at the top of the skin before the actual chute. "The early bird can Have the worm" I always say.

We also climbed around the inside of a ping-pong ball the day previously. It was so white out that I led our crew through and past our intended gully/canyon and onto a much steeper ridge on the "wrong" side of said gully. Freakin' weatherman touting blue skies.
Maybe that's why no one wanted to hike with me on day two.

I started at about 10am Saturday morning and made it up and down Tincan in beautiful sunlight and blue skies. As I started skinning back to The Library, deep dark clouds moved in with a quickness and and all light faded to white (again). I watched the other 3 people back there make tracks down the mountainside in total flat light. Then I got ready to head back, mentally, when to my bewilderment the group of 3 started back up. If they can do it, F*** it, so can I. Well, even more to my amazement, the skies went completely blue when I topped out. So both runs were clear runs. Then the clouds came back in again and haven't gone away since... 28 inches fell on Sunday alone!!! We're over 250" for February.

So, the videos... No music, no jumps, no editing, just loooong Chugach runs in the sun!

I am curious to know which book you got on?

I saw that sun come out once I was on the other side of the arm on the road. I was very suprised cause I thought it was over for the day. You scored!

If I coulda predicted it would come out again I woulda stayed but after 2 weeks of generally poor forecasting by NOAA in terms of when it would be clear I frustrated and tired of being confused loosing my sense of defintion in flat light and when those clouds came in I balied hard!

next window looks to be Monday or Wednesday-ish... but who knows..

When I see AK mountains I can't help feeling blown away at the size, vert, and steepness of it all. This stuff here perfectly shows how AK mountains are the big leagues, and how most (with exceptions everyone!) of the lower 48 is so minor league.
Amazing. I've never wanted to ride AK more than now.
