Any advice on taking nice snowboarding and mountain scenery photos? What cameras do you recommend? lenses? How about for night time shots?

man if you can afford it I would get the Canon EOS 20D. 8meg digital slr that has been getting tons of good reviews. Just save some dough for good lenses because you will need it.

it's a lot cheaper than wide angle lenses.

Whatever camera you get, don't use any of the auto modes when shooting snow. While you'll get an ok picture with them, cameras attempt to expose everything as 12 - 18% grey. So when you shoot snow, you're camera will be overwhelmed by all the reflective light bouncing off the snow and will try to underexpose and make the snow not white, but grey.
