Yeah im thinking about a hardboot design. It doesn't use pucks, its a whole new interface. And while it looks simple it performs very much like a normal binding. Instead of sliding onto the board it wedges on at 3 points. Wedging means it jams the binding hard against the board at all 3 points of the interface you cant even pull a piece of paper out from under it. Its also impossible to displace the two middle edges. Change over is fast as their is a massive tolerance to align the binding up with the wedges. I designed it around ride mode but tour mode is almost as exciting. Will have more pictures and video in the coming weeks.
I have a hardboot version, ready to be built but what kinda of bails? i like the idea of bombers just bolting strait on and being adjustable but not everyone is happy with bomber bails right?
Bails, I dunno, maybe starting a new thread would get more attention and input.
Couple other thoughts Chris.
If you look at most stock softboot bindings you will see different options for attaching heel straps and ladders. I find it annoying that most straps for split specific bindings attach to the highback pivot point. I've had to drill out a hole in my Sparks to get the ladder exactly(sure it's only a cm away, but it makes a difference for me) where I want it to be. I see that you were thinking about this with your first prototype. It wouldn't take much to have a couple other stock options on these bindings. Hoping those highbacks are real stiff too.
Since you are exploring a hardboot option, I hope you have also thought out how to get a canting option. Perhaps under, or incorporated into a hardboot Carbon Fibre footbed. Otherwise canted wedges, along the lines of what Adam has done(http://splitboard.com/talk/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=11874

Still available for testing......
Yeah good point, so you actually notice that small difrence in position? i thought id go this way to save weight/have one less bolt. But maybe i have both holes there if you want them. High backs are just temporary there will be a cf option.
do the bails need to cant as well or just the plates the boot sits on?
