Well as we all know last weekend saw the first Avy death of the season at Berthoud Pass. We have been warned. Still good turns were had.
Saturday, we spent an hour trying to push my car up the snow covered road into Butler Gulch. We finally left her for dead.
Deadbird skinning in.
We ran into fortysix&2 back there. I knew it had to be him from the super wide skin track on the way. Thanks for breaking trail man.
Steve had a snow porn movie party in the movie room at the clubhouse where he lives. He drank a ton of tekillya.
Watcha doing Steve?
^^^mmmmmm eggs and french toast for breakfest. Steve bailed back to the car after that. Unfortunately my batteries in my camera went dead and I dropped the new ones in the snow. Cya! The snow was knee deep with drifts to waste deep. Pretty darn nice. So on day two we decided it was time to check out Berthoud Pass
The dogs were definitely pumped to go
We did one run on the northwest side of the pass. The meadows were nice, but the steeper slopes going down to Current Creek were a little toothy. Big snowsnakes were lurking to twist a leg. Then there was all the rescue commotion. Really sad and frightening seeing this. We drove over to the South side of the pass and skinned up the shoulder below No Name Peak for some well covered lower angle turns.
Steve and then yours truly skinning up.
And then some turns...yay!
Go Cody!
and a few other "scenic" shots.
No Name peak.
Top of Berthoud Pass. The avy happened around to the right (and back) of the first ridge in the pic.
Big 'ol cirque above Berthoud Falls.
and a look at our last set of tracks...
Another shot of snow this weekend is coming. I am getting out on Sunday. Any of you Coloraddy's are welcome to join in.

Too bad you couldn't get action shot of Steve...hehe. I sympathize. Hangover + Skin = pain.
Great job on the TR. Had a great time, looking forward to more hookups this year! You guys are welcome to stay up here in fairplay this winter. We can hit up some of the central/southern mountains.
Ive got a place outside of Alma with lots of beds too if people are looking for a place to crash in the mountains, should be there most every weekend. Anyone wanna make any plans for next weekend? or is this weekend to early to make plans for the next one? Hope everyone got out and enjoyed the fresh.
