The 2012/2013 Blaze binders are 84 grams lighter than the 2011/12 version. That's almost three ounces. The material has been heavily machined to reduce weight both in the baseplate as well as the heelcup. The most notable refinement in the design however is that the toe strap which was previously held in place by a set of small tabs and four screws is now held in place by a slot machined into the base. This means there are six less parts per binder - a significant reduction in the overall number of parts.
sick, i was so floored by the Edison that i skipped right over taking a closer look the the refinements beyond the new heelcup

Jeff took us through the set up on the Edison yesterday. I was blown away. Can't wait for them rig up the baseplate risers. Nothing else out there like it.

Got a short chance to drool over this stuff today. Unfortunately Edison and the new karakoram stuff was out of the building and on its way to ispo. Whoever said that 2012-13 is a great time to be a splitter was dead on.

Looks nice, simple, techy, versatile, fewer parts,:-) hope we don't need to take out a second mortgage;-/ wish it wasn't limited 30 degrees, seems like it should have infinte angles. Now streamline the baseplate and some mount hole for bomder bails and lose all the bulky straps and highback. I'm thinking the new skins will be awesome. The collapsible poles are a great idea but irrelevant for me. Not trying to rain on the parade here, I'm thrilled to see some innovation and advancement from last century's technologies.

There not finished tweaking it yet and they're still working on the onboard riser component but Jeff said the price point may come in around 6-700 for the interface and bindings.
