Snow buildup on skins.

I got shut down the other day by heavy snow buildup. I rubbed wax into the skins but they were wet already. Any new technology or hints? This stuff looks sick.

In the PNWet I've been using the Glop Stopper wax from Black Diamond. It took several applications before it was really effective though.

If the stuff in the video ever comes to market it will be awesome.

Colin posted a video tutorial of warm waxing your glop stopper into your skins. Tried it out and i think it's more effective, and last longer then the simple rub on method. I also like it better then the liquid stuff from nikwax that smells like elmers glue since you don't have to wait for it to dry. not sure which works better, or longer, but both wear off after a few tours. I didn't do the great side by side comparison like the guy did with skins and bindings.

Suncream works in a pinch if your skins are glopped up and wet.

However, when you get home, rub in loads of BD glopstopper wax (purple) and run a hot iron accross. Some say comb the pile down, but I never saw the need.

yes! I'm a huge fan of this. It works really well, and and it lasts a while. Don't get them too warm though, or the glue will come off the skins and stick on your board!

Bought the glop stop the other day and it works well so far just rubbing it on. It was funny when I asked the shop guy about warm melting the wax into the skins. He looked at me like I was nuts. :scratch:
