Until fairly recently, most peoples fridges in North America had more snow than just about any mountain. Luckily for me whatever snow missed north america surfaced in Japan!

To give you an idea of the snow, I parked the car at 11pm, this is just before 8 am...

This is Tokachidake, a live (last eruption '88) volcano on Hokkaido that we wanted to make our bitch.

Um, "epic" is the word that comes to mind...

Loving the karakorams  , the solution's pretty good, but i find it real slow (the base doesn't feel as smooth as my solid)

No didn't do furanodake this year, went up there last year. I am heading back up to hokkaido early march and will be heading back to that area for sure. Gonna try and do yotei too.

Would love to do those chutes off the side of furanodake, but i think they take some getting to, also nice and steep so you wanna have a think about the avalanche conditions too.

Did Shiribetsu-dake over NW Hokkaido... that hill is off the hook.

Also kamui, kiroro, iwonupuri.
