Has anybody removed the handle from a Voile pole? I took the screw out and can't get the grip to budge. I'm trying to find a way to have a 1/4" 20 thread (aka tripod screw mount) stick out of the top of the pole). Any tips or ideas?

Try boiling it in water for a few minutes. Many ski pole grips are simply held onto the pole via interference fit & so heating the grip should allow it to expand enough that it can be slid off the pole. Be careful & use something to prevent burning yourself as it will likely be pretty hot!

Compressed air?? That works for tough bike grips.

Tried the boiling water, no luck. No way to get compressed air under the grip. I think I'm going to try having a bolt manufactured - one end the size of the existing screw, the other end 1/4 20.

Boil the grip and ice the shaft? One expands and the other contracts.

Could you cover the holes with duct tape from the inside and pressurize from the end. Ready launch!

generally poles made of carbon - or composite will have the grips glued on. poles made of aluminum will have the grips just "pressed" on if you will.

Boiling water is great for removing carbon poles grips as it softens the glue...

the water may act as a lubricant for the aluminum application, but ill tell you a trick for removing grips....

this is how i remove every grip that comes into my shop.

step one - find a solid door to use - preferably one in the garage so if you slip you dont trash the finish of your interior doors.
step two - place the pole grip facing away (so that you are holding the lower portion of the pole in your other two hands) in between the door frame and the door.
step three - pull the door closed so the grip is braced on either side by the edge of the door frame and the edge of the door.
step four - pulling resistance on the pole (use your body to give it a few solid pulls), this will keep the door pulling tightly against the grip while you pull the pole out of the grip.

if this verbal walk through is confusing (which it probably is a little), ill take photos to demonstrate and post for you.

its pretty straight forward though... then you can drill through the end of the pole grip and rig up some sort of threaded system to hold your camera mount...
