Thanks guys. Conditions for surfing are good, I just got to get out more often.
The step on the base makes it easier to get a wider board on edge as most of my decks are around 28cm waists. It also help to loosen things up while turning. Less edge catch and added drift. The bumps under the bindings on the surf style shape add traction as there is only sidecut between the feet.
Wow I never would have thought of that! You're refinitely thinking out of the box. Super wide boards rule. How do you lam that and get the ptex to follow the rad bottom shape? I just ripped the ptex off an old board and hope to experiment with a stepped bottom. Hoping I can eliminate skins plus it might slide better in very sticky conditions. That's California.
