FWIW I'm a small guy 5'7" 145lb and ride in AK, and I use a 164cm (charlie slasher diy). I haven't felt over powered by the size and feels good to not have to ride in the back seat when its deep (like this year). By your description you focus on freeriding over freestyle, so added length will help with stability at speed and float.
