So I've been looking around for a while for the right board to cut. An Elan Vertigo popped up online for $180.00 in a 168cm. I like the description, stiff torisionally, soft tip to tail. I bought it. Now I'm checking out the photo's on www.elansnowboards.com and it appears that their WaveFLEX technology is actually a series of channels and bulges on the top sheet. Anyone know if I need to continue my search for a board to cut or can I make it work..? It seems like the main areas of concern are the Heel lifters and touring brackets.

Bat-board! That thing is crazy looking.

It might be a pain, getting the touring hardware on those waves. I'm leaning towards "probably possible, but not worth the trouble."

I've only been involved in a handful of DIY splits, and I'm pretty sure I would look for another board. I'm no engineer.

If you go for it, document it.

The Board should be on my Doorstep when I get home from work so I will be able to get a better look at it. I'm hoping that my rear foot stance is far enough back so that the heel lifters will be able to mount just before the waves start, and the touring bracket will mount in the space in the middle of the board. It may come down to whether I'm willing to mount the touring brakets somewhere other than the balance point.. I'm crossing my fingers.

The issue I've been concerned about other than that explained above, is the placement of the China Hooks. I know the suggested mounting point, but is there much flexibility if I have to mount them forward or backwards of the suggested point? Perhaps Using a K-clip would be a fix for that issue as well. Was also thinking maybe using a dense rubber modified to fit in the grooves, to provide a flush, firm mounting plate.

Anyways, I will document the build should I decided to go ahead with it. Using lots of resources here on Splitboard.com of course!
