"Cordova has been declared in a state of local emergency and will probably be declared a disaster area by the state and feds soon. Two and maybe 3 avalanches overnight across the Highway between here and Eyak River. Roofs have collapsed on some buildings..."
"...city officials are urging every one to stay home and deal with the snow at their residences, and not venture out..."
"...street cleaning remains at a minimum because there is nowhere else to put the snow, and the removal equipment is being shared with the State to clear the highway..."
"...because the same equipment is used to do the highway and the airport--we are getting no air service because the runway is not cleared. So no mail, or deliveries--including pharmaceuticals..."
"...Copper River Highway will remain closed until cleared. People are being ferried around the road system by snowmobile on Eyak Lake. After the road is cleared all traffic will be escorted through the avalanche area with avalanche beacons in every vehicle..."
"...no reported casualties yet. Forecast is one and one-half to two feet of blizzard snow again tomorrow."

How about Oregon, could you spare just a little for Oregon as well? Seriously though, looks like a ridiculous amount of snow up there. Glad to see with all the cluster you're still taking advantage with the splits

After enduring through a sunny 500+" low tide season last winter in our part of the Chugach and traveling south in search of snow we will take a return to normal up here. This is a La Nina I can live with!
Yeah, we finally got some precip this year. But as soon as I started to brag about the snow, it RAINED all the way to 2000' (the peaks here are in the 3000's range, the most) There's a reason most of ski bums live in Valdez.
Anyway, to answer one of the question, I'm a research assistant for a non-profit science organization. Most of the people in Cordova fish or doing something that relates to fisheries.
