Hey I was wondering if anyone out there has had any experience with these skins? Seems like a pretty cool idea, if it works.
Also, if you have the skins, what did you use to cut them? Because Gecko sells their tool separately for something ridiculous like $60. I have my old Voile tool still, would that work?
My buddy has been rocking them this season. So far so good. He has about the same traction I do with my BD skins. They seem to pick up less snow under them and yeah they pull apart like nothing. I think you could give them a hard whip and they would peel apart.

after Snobros recent review of the G3s, I'd like to know if anyone can give additional insight into the Geckos...aside from the price, I find these really intriguing.
Also, if anyone can chime in on the spit-specific tail clips and trimming tool, I'd like to know if they are both necessary (bringing the already high price, up to about $325, unless I'm missing something).

For all the Ozzie spliters Talked to the imported here in OZ and they wouldn't even sell me wholesale the skins below $175 , they retail in OZ for $300 ish. I don't understand this not even going to bother having a look as there price point is ridiculous!

I trimmed mine Gecko's yesterday with a usual trim knife, and with no problems. You have to place the skin without the front clip on "de-centred" so, that when you cut it over the outside edge of the splitboard half you gain couple of mm to show the steel edges when placed centered. That's the thing the trimming tool does for you, it offsets the cut approximately 2mm to the inside of the splitboard half. I got a nice cut with that trim knife.
The skins came without tail clips and i think that MP Sports (the manufacturer of Gecko skins) have only tail clips for skies not for splitboards. Will test the geckos this weekend, but from what I heard the tail clips are not necessary and they stick to the base quite well. Will see how they work...
Btw: loved working and trimming the geckos without the glue! Perfect and easy handling, especially when placing them correctly for the trim on and off correcting no problem!
