I have just found out I will be teaching level one avalanche clases this year at the hill I patrol at ( snow summit , Big Bear CA) and I have to put together a power point presentation. My avy 1 was a bore so I want to use as many real photos/ videos I can find . If anyone has good photos or videos of avalanches or you have survived one I would appreciate your input. I would love to have the clip of BCR at conness last june. Guest speakers are also welcome , I can offer lift tickets to a small crowded hill and a room in a condo for the weekend. It is close to San Gorgonio

I can get some still pics and viddy togther. When do you need them?

Class is going to be on Dec 3rd or the 17th. I still have 6 to 7 weeks to put it together. Thanks

I have some pics and other material that I have and will be using for an Avy I class I am teaching in January that I would be happy to share. Many of them are from other NSP Avy instructors so you would need to include a reference in your presentation. PM me and we can iron out the details.

what was going through your mind as thuis was coming at you?

A big Sierra spring slab slide on Dunderberg from sometime in May 2005.

The lowest skier on the ridge started a small surface slide (trigger point was just above the rockband below him). Small slide ripped down to much deeper layers (and ultimately the ground) as it gained momentum:

Wow, great response guys THANKS . As Im putting Info together I came across the National Avalanche Centers Education site. Best Avalanche training on the web I have seen. If you dont have the time or money to take an Avy course, go here

This is a great step by step on-line Avy course

I have some great pictures of some guys roped in kicking cornesses and how they triggered a point release slide that released a good twenty feet from where the cornice landed. I think this is super informative on how kicking cornices can be very effective way of getting an idea of the stability and how sensitive avalanches can be and that they can be triggered from below, and to the side as well as above. However I don't know how to download my pictures to this site can anyone help?
