Nah, these are meant to be used with dynafit toe pieces (for ski mode) and plate bindings (which bolt to the Voile tracks and rides up in your pack). They'd be pretty awful in a strap binding.

Now this might be a ridiculous question, I don't know yet, but would these boots perform good without switching my spark bindings? Can I ride these boots in my regular bindings? Since I've never seen nor heard of this I'll assume no, but what do you think?
I'm not a gear head, just a BC snow fanatic. I'm relatively new to spliting but not to riding and certainly not to exploring the backcountry! That said, I NEED new boots, been riding some old burtons for what must be the last 8 years or so (it's foolish, I know, but I just never really paid my boots much attention until a 10 day BC splity tour last spring in which I struggled to maintain dry feet.)
With the release of the spark boot, that's the direction I am leaning but, wow, people really seem to love these boots! And I will certainly be needing something capable of steep rock and ice bootin both with and without crampons. The lighter weight, the better!
Cheers
No, do not bother to try that, the boots would not fit the bindings vey well, and the riding performance would suck. Also you would not save any weight: the weight savings with these boots comes from the light weight plate binding, at more than a pound lighter than a Spark binding, not from the boots (which weigh about the as a Burton Driver X).
Thanks guys. Yeah, I figured such but ya never know, ya know. It's been 15 years since I've skied and a long time since I've bought new boots, I'm kinda out of the loop. And was just never stoked on staying up with gear. Leaning now towards the Sparks boots but certainly going to be looking into the tlt5 and some plate bindings.
I'm curious what boot stance angles you are running with your dynafit AT boots.
I run an older set of dynafit TLT4's with Bomber plate bindings. My stance angles are (approx.) +15 up front and +9 in the rear. Each binding is canted by 4 degrees inward (leaning toward the centre of the board).
I'm now setting up a second board for traveling in the backcountry with kites. It's a twin tip Prior AMF and I am setting it up duck stance.
Does anyone ride ducky with AT or hard boots? Would I cant this setup similar to my other board?
I'm curious because it would be the least amount of work for me to simply use my existing bindings interchangeably. Otherwise, I'll order up a pair of Voile plates.
One more lingering question from this thread, did anyone ever have a chance to try out the Dynafit TLT5 with the Bomber splitboard binding? I'm itching to find out whether the boot will fit securely with the thick wire bail of the Bomber.

I finally got around to trying these on today and I was pretty impressed. Super light! Got sized for a 29. Barrows, I see you're riding a size 28-do you think the slider plate could accommodate a size 29 with the raceplate combo (sole length 317mm)? Anyone else rocking these in a 29 with burton raceplates and got them to fit on the slider plate?
As an update, I've been using these with some Bomber Sidewinder bindings and they are working well so far. They don't feel like they will twist in the binding or pull out at all.
I have next week off of work and will continue to stress them but so far so good.

Here is a picture of my mod to the forward lean bar. I used a file to enlarge the hole a few milimeters to increase the forward flex while in "ski" mode. This was pretty easy to do. The forward lean bar is easy to access and the metal files easily.

EXACTLY! Just fine tune how much you file upwards to adjust the forward flex. Thanks for posting this pic Sognar!
I have to disagree (kick me if I'm wrong here) but I think these boot will NOT fit into a standard (front locking) plate binding because the toe is too short, just enough for TLT and rear locking crampons....
please delete post if this in not true.

Total shameless threadjack/spammy-spam here, but I have an older pair of Brand New TLT's that I am selling that would be a perfect splitty boot.

They lock in solid! Barrows has been running them the longest here with no problems so far. Ive been running plates on my resort board for about 10 years using delux hardboots so i know what to shoot for as far a feel and safety with these boots coming closest to date with the mods done to them. This is a few pics of the setup. I fabbed a plate to go over the hole to allow forward flex and added a stop to limit backward flex in ride mode as well as to set the forward boot angle.
