I'd be down if there's enough snow by then... where are you thinking?

Anywhere that is decent. I'm new to the area and just want to get a preseason workout. I know the forecast is subject to change 10 million times before the storm hits, but I saw a projected forecast of 10 inches of snow for the timberline area around 6500 feet.

Let's keep an eye on the weather and see what it does... I'd probably be down if there is some new snow.

this is high on the cooper spur route, about 500 feet below the summit. This is accessed through the tilly jane cabin trail.

Nice. We were up on the Spur two days ago just getting the lay of the land for Tilly Jane, etc. When atypically is the route in?

Also, not sure about the Dec Tilly Jane party, but if I don't have to work, both my bro and I will be down.

cheers

Well, last year we were hitting a foot of fresh on that route all the way down to 3000 feet before Halloween, so I'd say... now! A good indicator to look for on that side of Hood is to check the snow report for Cooper Spur ski area (around 3000 feet). If they have snow, everything above it has snow.

For now I'm consoling myself watching snow porn. I just got the Craig Kelly documentary, any of you guys seen it?

Hang tight on the TJ party, the guy at ONC who books it is being a little sketchy. Like not committing to letting me book it. If we can't book it I'm still down for snow camping there or anywhere in the Hood area.

I made it up to Timberline today. Didn't seem like the recent storm brought much snow. There was a couple of inches of dry powder on the side of some trails. It seemed like anything above the palmer chair lift was iced over. It was very difficult to traverse in some areas during our attempt to Zigzag glacier. Need a couple of good storm to dump snow before considering a trip in this area. Although conditions were shitty, it was good to get out and get some exercise for the season.

Nice, it's good to get out. Went hiking around in the snow at about 5000 feet with the wife Sunday, there was 8 inches in places but not nearly enough for good BC riding yet...

Hi,

I will spend some days in Oregon at the end of the year for holidays. I will be mainly in Eugene and in Portalnd. I would like to go splitboarding and was wondering which areas are good around these two towns.

Also any good snowboard shop to recommend to buy my splitboard?

Cheers

As far as Portland, Mt Hood is where we usually go... lots of good spots there, some very close to the ski areas.

I like US Outdoor, they have lots of boards and good staff, prices, etc. I also like Next Adventure, but they only stock the Atomic board, which I'm not really a fan of. Good for other gear though.

US Outdoors is not that bad at all. I bought tons of stuff off their website. Just bought pair of Spark Burner Bindings this past weekend from there. Staff is super friendly. I was surprise to see their binding accessories in stock at the store.
